RIM BlackBerry Storm: Inconsistent and Confusing

By: Alan Ng | November 27, 2008 | 1 Comment

The NYtimes have written a detailed article highlighting some of the key issues and problems surrounding the BlackBerry Storm, concluding that it is inconsistent and confusing to use.

The first main problem they identify is the Storms lack of physical keyboard. While the state the use of the screen depressing technology is a good one, they believe the whole concept of a BlackBerry is based on its keyboard and they just created the Storm to cash in on the iPhone ‘s success.

They also comment about sending emails using the touchscreen keyboard is a real issue and too much hassle when you have to press the screen in to type a single letter, comparing it to a ‘manual typewriter’.

I've been a Storm user for about a year. It's cumbersome, slow to type as display has to be pressed and locks up several times a week which requires removing battery to reset. Not very many apps compared to the I-Phone or even the Droid. I-phone is like a Ferrari, the Storm is like an old Desoto. Please Verizon and Apple… you would both benefit and profit from working together- listen to the people and lets get the I-phone on the Verizon network.
