LG Electronics and F1’s Bernie Ecclestone unveil sponsorship deal

LG Electronics have signed a deal with F1’s Bernie Ecclestone, to become the official technology partner of Formula 1. The new five-year deal will see LG Electronics appear as the official time keeper, as well as provide data for broadcasts.

From January 2009, LG will become the consumer electronics, data processor, and mobile phone for the sport. Ecclestone has said that the deal will be beneficial for LG as well as the sport. LG have said that they are very proud to now be involved in the sport.

LG Electronics will now have a worldwide coverage; each race is watched by an average of 354 million viewers, something that LG must have known about. Formula 1 has been televised on ITV for a few years now, but now the BBC has finally got the sport back.
