PlayStation 3 concepts that could have been

If we go back a couple of years, before the Sony PlayStation 3 there would have been a number of concepts that we would never had seen. Thankfully we have managed to locate some of these PS3 concepts, a few of these are the consoles themselves, and there are also some controller concepts.
One of the controllers we have already seen, which is the crescent shaped one, but then there is an odd looking sphere shaped one. I can totally understand why Sony did not want to go ahead with that design; you would not be able to relax your hands in fear of dropping the thing.
There are a few concepts of the PS3 console as well, and these do not look that bad. One of them does look like a Netgear modem router, but it does have a nice flowing design. Another concept looks like a sleek looking DVD player with a controller than looks like a cross between an Xbox 360 controller and a Stealth Fighter; I would have preferred that over the PS3 controller that we have now. The other Sony PlayStation 3 concept looks like one of their Vaio VP series computers.

Most of them (maybe all of them apart from the boomerang controller) are fakes. I remember a load more fake concepts from people before E3 2005, you’ve actually not got my personal favourite in your post.
The interesting about most of them was they all seemed to go with the slot-feed disc drive from very early on. I wonder if that was just coincidence as it’s easy to make a fake PS3 concept look “futuristic” with a slot drive or if there really was a genuine design leak at some point that specified the PS3 would adopt a slot-drive?
I really did like the look of the Ball controller, but I wonder if would have actually of been practical? I guess not to be honest, was a nice idea though! Could have been better for your hands.
