Apple Store Black Friday Price Match
By: Peter Chubb | November 26, 2008 | Leave a CommentApple normally keeps a tight control over their prices of their products in store, but the company has recently issued an email regarding the Black Friday sale. Apple has told their retail employees that they are authorized to reduce the price of their computers; so that they will match their competitor/partners advertised low prices. This is the first time that Apple has issued a price match.
Normally this would not be a big deal, as places like Amazon.com have only been shaving of a few bucks of the normal selling price of an Apple computer. Black Friday 2008 is different, as Best Buy are dropping prices by up to $150 on some Apple systems, which Apple Stores will now match.
An example of this is Best Buy’s offer on the base MacBook, which they are offering for just $899, that’s $100 of the normal selling price, in the past Amazon have offered $100 discount on iPods. It is not certain why Apple is keeping us in the dark over this, maybe if people don’t ask they won’t get.
