Panasonic, Blu-ray Disc & 3D proposal: All coming together
By: Daniel Chubb | November 25, 2008 | 1 CommentIt seems everything is coming together, well if the proposal goes well that is. We are on about Panasonic proposing Blu-ray Disc as standard for 3D imagery which in our eyes is the only way forward.
The Panasonic Corp of Japan have submitted a proposal to the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), in the hope for Blu-ray Disc standard to store three-dimensional (3D) imagery formed of left-/right-eye two-channel full-High Definition (HD) images (1,920 x 1,080 pixels). The also consider proposing for a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) standard capable for transmitting 3D imagery, if everything goes to plan and BDA begins the formal discussion by the end of 2008 we could possibly see this happen by 2010.
We all know that there was a futile standards war when it came to next-gen Digital Videodiscs (DVD), and we also know that the want this proposal to go ahead as fast as possible to prevent conflict related to 3D imagery standards, these are the two main reasons why Panasonic has put in the proposal.
