EMI vs Beatles: iTunes Negotiations Stalled
By: Daniel Chubb | November 25, 2008 | 1 CommentThe latest news reports that negotiations to Beatles songs on iTunes have indeed been stalled, the negotiations to put these songs on iTunes is a major set-back for Paul McCartney and the long-awaited deal leaves McCartney saying “”The last word I got back was it’s stalled at the whole moment, the whole process,” the former Beatle said. “I really hope it will happen because I think it should.”
It seems that it is all down to EMI and the Beatles, the band’s holding company, Apple Corps Ltd has declined to allow the Beatles music on its Internet music service and that of course means iTunes included. This is a situation that has been exacerbated by the dispute between Apple Corps and Apple Inc which of course owns iTunes which was resolved in 2007.
EMI are the ones who owns the Beatles recordings, but EMI needs Apple Corps’ permission to release such music in newer formats, the matter is being resolved as we speak. The question is “Will these negotiations ever come to an end, and will they ever agree?
