Black Friday 1983 to 2008: The Cabbage Patch Kids
By: Peter Chubb | November 25, 2008
There are a number of Black Friday’s that have been that extra special, like in 1983. Back then Americans went wild for the Cabbage Patch Kids, and they stood in what looked like never-ending lines to try and pick up one of these much loved toys.
This year is the 25th anniversary of the Cabbage Patch Kids, and the dolls are back thanks to Play Along®, a division of JAKKS Pacific. The Limited Edition 25th Anniversary Cabbage Patch Kids will be exact replicas of the original toys.
I am not sure whether Black Friday 2008 will see a frenzy for the dolls like we saw back in 1983, as people’s taste has changed. There is no doubt that the kids who purchased the Cabbage Patch Kids all those years ago will want to get their own kids one now, and show them what they used to like when they were children.
