AMD Phenom II chips clock 6.3GHz Speeds
By: Daniel Chubb | November 24, 2008 | Leave a CommentNow if you love AMD and you really love Phenom II and indeed very fast speeds, then you will definitely love what AMD showed off. AMD demonstrated and proved that is upcoming 45-nanometer Deneb desktop chips over-clocked to an amazing 6.3GHz.
These Deneb chips are going to be the Phenom II’s and are cooled by liquid nitrogen, some say that the chips only clocked 4GHz with air cooling and 5GHz with dry ice cooling, oh and that the processors are free of any coldbug.
The best Phenom II chip will be available in the first quarter of 2009, the spec list will say 3.0GHz off the shelf, now this is great news seeing as the nearest contender would have to be Intel’s top Core i7 processor has been overclocked to 4.5GHz on air cooling alone, and some say that it has got to 5.7GHz using liquid nitrogen.
AMD did say that the Phenom II demonstrations were carried out on what the chipmaker calls its ‘Dragon’ platform, in simple terms that means a quad-core Phenom II processor to me and you. For more information please read more here.
