Microsoft say Xbox 360 outsells Sony PS3 in Europe

Microsoft has said that it is currently selling more Xbox 360 consoles than the PS3 in Europe with claims of double the units that its rival sold since September in the UK.
This was mainly down to some significant price cuts to Microsoft’s console and good marketing in the last quarter of the year. As you remember, the 360 Arcade unit was reduced to £129.99, the 60gb premium down to £169.99 and the 120gb Elite coming down to £229.99.
Microsoft made these statements as they spoke to MCV. One of the senior figures at MCV then stated, ‘We don’t fixate on the competition, but it’s a very important bellwether of our success.’
As we approach Christmas, it seems right now as if Microsoft are getting the right price point for their consoles as most parents are just going to pick up a 360 simply because of its price compared to that of Sony’s PS3. What are your thoughts on this?

I think the the Xbox 360 will win this Xmas, although I dont want it to. They have a better advertising campaign and its cheap thats why they will win. I think this is the Xbox’s last push, and the PS3 will be on top next xmas, as they must be a price cut by then.
I had this problem last year twice the first time I took it back I got a new one at best buy. The second time though the warranty was up and microsoft said they could not do anything about it, unless I paid $140 for the repair and that didn’t include shipping and handling. I was pretty mad but I did some across a repair guide, with videos for like $20 and it saved my gamer score from suffering ha. It took about an hour to fix my rrod error and opening the console was a snap. I got it from http://redlightxbox360.com if you are having the same problems and microsuck wants you to shell out more money I suggest getting a repair guide.
Obviously Eric, your full of it. The 360 came out in November of 2005, and it has a three year warranty against the red light problem. Unless you’re a total tard, (and I suspect you are)…Your XBox was - and still is - covered by the warranty…oh yes, this story is made up…to sell some crap repair guide …nevermind.
i thought the xbox 360 had permanent warranty against the red light and 3 years against anything else but i guess i could of read wrong
xbox will win and the price will have a lot to do with it, i myself am a microsoft hater specially becouse of the windows experience and i currently own a ps2 and i’m thinking it’s time for a upgrade but the ps3 it’s just too expensive, i mean 400 euros for the ps3 and 249 for the xbox …
I have the old 20 gb premium, been to repairs twice for disc read errors and RROD and now even with new dvd rom drive I’m starting to see disc read errors again. You shuld see my Forza 2 disc, the 360 as just scrathed it to death. With these prices I’m going to get myself the elite when xmas is over.
It will come down to pricing who wins in sales between the 2. The arcade is cheaper than the Wii but Wii will still take number one spot for sales, but last spot for hours played. I don’t count the Wii as its in the toy section it doesn’t compete in the gamers market, you know, the crowd who actually buy and play games.
