Apple have now released iTunes 8.0.2 Update, this latest update was hoped to make a number of improvements but already people have been reporting problems. Apple says that the new update fixes a couple of issues that the digital media software had as well as improving accessibility for those with impaired vision.

iTunes 8.0.2 Update fixes a quality issue that the software had when creating MP3s on certain computers, the update also addresses the connectivity issue to the iTunes Store with certain Internet proxies on Mac OS X.

Apple also says that iTunes 8.0.2 will improve accessibility with VoiceOver, this helps to aid those who are visually impaired, this is done by reading out loud the contents of the files. The update is 60.3MB and is available from Apple’s iTunes site.

As we mentioned above there have been a number of problems reported already with the update. One of the problems was on someone’s MacMini; after he installed the update and then restarted all he has now is a blue screen. Read More

Another user installed iTunes 8.0.2 on to his Mac Mini, he then tried to open iTunes, all he got was a dialog box which said “The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (13008)” The user tried to reinstall iTunes, but he still gets the same error. Read More

I HATE THAT UPDATE!!!!
Im so frustrated my iTunes was fine until this stupid update download
and ontop of that they dont even have a “Apple iTunes Support E-mail” so you can’t even get help!?!
I ve done everything it tells me to but nothing works
-uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and Quicktime
-and a bunch other things
and when i try to open iTunes it says there is no Quicktime AND IT TELLS ME TO INSTALL iTunes?!?
that makes no sense??!
and when i try to install quicktime it turns into an iTunes installer

Why is MAC talking trash about Microsoft when they’re having problems themselves
HYPOCRITES!
and im just about to get an a nano for Xmas after having a 1st generation shuffle..for like 5 years!?!
if this problem isn’t fixed by Xmas im gonna punch somebody

i Fixed it!!
if you cant get iTunes to open
like when you try to open it and it says to download iTunes because there’s no Quicktime
DON”T INSTALL iTUNES!!!
install quicktime seperatly
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
select the quicktime only download
itunes should work after you download it

I click YES to the update…what a mess!! It keep saying it could not upadate the program. Then I could not open the itunes becasue an error with QuickTime. I tried reinstalling quicktime but this did not fix it. I had to uninstalled and download as a brand new application from the website. Lost 4 hours of work and my iPod is not synchronizing correctly, cannot download HD videocast anymore. OS Vista.

I can not update, everytime I try to update to 8.0.2 I have an error message. I can not find support for this either. I know the last time I had a problem with iTunes I found support after hours of looking. Their support pages seem to go round and round. After reading all the above I think it is best not to install the update anyway.
I have just downloaded iTunes 8.0.2. When I try starting it it will not open but is running but says it is unresponsive. I cannot force quit it and the only way to stop it running is to restart the machine. Since the update my computer spends an age on the blue screen when restarting the computer. I thought the benefit of a a mac was to avoid all this crap!.
I have the exact same problem…only with a PC. I wouldn’t have downloaded the new version (my old version worked fine) except for the reason that I upgraded to software for my iPod to 1.1.2 PC and it wouldn’t work on the version of iTunes that I had.

Does anyone have a clue as to how to fix this?

my ipod wont sync with just the pics .. i have taken everything off of it 4 times since yesterday .. and even hacked it .. it puts the songs on there and just sticks on sync before it gets to the pics any help ?

I tried to install 8.0.1.1 then 8.0.2 (tonight). With both updates, I got the message that:

“There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.”

What program? I do not have support staff or vendors at home. Do I need an update before the update? I don’t want to lose data, but want to make sure I am getting the improvements and also stop getting the “do you want to upgrade?” messages.

I installed 8.02 last week. All seemed to go well except when I got to the I Tunes store, the are broken links, and no artwork. I have uninstalled, reinstalled x 3, all to no change!!!
I have tried to download music and it starts to download but then starts and then stops. The error area says it has to do with the artwork not be available. I have already tried trying to “force” the artwork, and that didn’t help either. Ideas?

Grrrr, is there any other music machine like itunes? i’ve had problem with itunes from day 1, bought an iphone and it upgraded, it wont work no more.. i finally fix that only to discover it wont work with my sim and i should look for at & t dumb sim. I got around that in the long run but updates still coming, i lost all my music on this stupid 8.0.2 upgrade because i thought my windows os based computer has crashed when i saw the dreaded blue screen, every thing freezes and the computer drags, and this is supposed to be a sony vio series that runs like rocket before. in my own opinion. this is a water loo for itunes. let someone like Microsoft take over if they don’t know what they are doing. i have the intention of throwing away my iphone and buying a samsung omnia and quite apple update which looks like a downgrade or degenerate.

I installed the update and I regret it so much. Now, there’s no audio output. I’ve tried restarting my Macbookpro a few times, checked settings, but the problem persists. My entire audio output is non-existent, not just for iTunes, but for all other applications.

The problem was instantaneous the minute the update was installed. Any suggestions. I’m stuck.
