iTunes 8.0.2 Update fixes a quality issue that the software had when creating MP3s on certain computers, the update also addresses the connectivity issue to the iTunes Store with certain Internet proxies on Mac OS X.

Apple also says that iTunes 8.0.2 will improve accessibility with VoiceOver, this helps to aid those who are visually impaired, this is done by reading out loud the contents of the files. The update is 60.3MB and is available from Apple’s iTunes site.

As we mentioned above there have been a number of problems reported already with the update. One of the problems was on someone’s MacMini; after he installed the update and then restarted all he has now is a blue screen. Read More

I have just downloaded iTunes 8.0.2. When I try starting it it will not open but is running but says it is unresponsive. I cannot force quit it and the only way to stop it running is to restart the machine. Since the update my computer spends an age on the blue screen when restarting the computer. I thought the benefit of a a mac was to avoid all this crap!.

I just downloaded 8.02 to my windows xp machine and now I can’t login to the iTunes store. I know get the following error:

“We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unkown error occurred (-9808). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later.”

  3. Mike says:

I haven’t had any issues. I’ve had the itunes store problem with most versions of iTunes, and it’s sporadic. I don’t think it has anything to do with the update.

  4. Machel says:

I hate this stupid thing. I downloaded the new version of itunes on Friday, November 21st and now I can not refresh my podcast or connect to the itunes store. I get an error message 3221. Freakin 8.0.2!!!! I am so mad!!!! My itunes was fine before this stupid download.

  5. Bob Starling says:

Updated to 8.0.2 on vista. Now everytime I try to run iTunes it starts up Windows Installer to “Configure” the software. When finished it wants to reboot. After the reboot, exactly the same thing again.
Doing a system restore hasn’t fixed it either. Looks like I am heading for an uninstall.

  6. Meg says:

I had a similar problem. The volume keys wouldn’t work after rebooting from the Quicktime/iTunes update (and Safari) so I restarted again. After restarting, I got stuck on the blue booting page, the one with the apple logo and gear wheel. Called apple care, did everything they could over the phone, nothing worked. Booting from the install disk and doing the disk verify/repair did nothing. Went into the apple store, they reinstalled leopard, and now everything is doing fine.

After iTune update, I can not open iTune app anymore.

      I have the same thing!
Tried uninstalling itunes about 3 times now and when i download it again it just restores the old one.

when i open itunes it comes up, then the spinning colour wheel thing goes for about 10 seconds, disappears and then says it had to quit unexpededly.

seriously…i need my itunes today for band work.
anyone got any ideas on how i can sort it out?

i emailed them last night, but apparently its taking them 4-5 days to respond and im not up for ringing an 0807 number :(

  8. KR says:

I have had nothing but problems with the new update. I can not even get to my itunes b/c the messages says there is a quik time error and then when I get to Quik time, It wants me to download the same thing everytime and I have let it go through its complete cycle twice. I am not happy, I just want my music back the way it was. These updates are about as ridiculous as Microsoft service pak 2.0.

I am having the same problem. Can’t get past the QuickTime portion of download. Have been on the phone with Apple Support and McAfee Support and have tried everything they and I can think of. Were you able to resolve it and, if so, how?

  9. Andrew says:
