Apple iPhone 2.2 Firmware Update: Issues and Problems

Apple are working hard, not only have they launched iTunes 8.0.2 Update; they have now released iPhone 2.2 update. The download is 246MB, and has a number of new features. The new update has a number of new Google Map features, like Street View.

This feature runs so smooth on Wi-Fi, and still works great over 3G. Other feature updates include, public transit, over-the-air podcast downloads improved sound quality for visual voicemail, mail enhancements, fewer dropped calls and Safari tweaks. The much needed copy and paste and new MMS features are not in this Apple iPhone 2.2 Firmware Update.

Users are already reporting a number of problems since downloading and installing the update, some of these include: One user was unable to delete emails, another users said that his update failed, iTunes gave him an error but he ignored it and went on with the download, now his iPhone is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen. Another problem is that the auto-brightness stops working properly.

Bigness you may have to free up your music on iPhone . Aslo if your computer is slow for reasons like infection of virus it may cause that .. It take me about 5 min or less to up date I tried it to diff phones already..

I instaled the upgrade and my phone forze on the connect to I tunes screen - couldnot shift it. I rang apple support and the only way around it is to restore to factory settings! I lost all of my info on the phone - photos the lot! Apple are aware of this and so far have done nothing about it - Quote from the support chap i spoke to.
I love this phone - however, if everytime i update im going to lose everything, apple will lose me…

Be WARNED you might lose everything if you update!

Just updated to 2.2, mostly all working fine except gps! No little blue dot, just crosshairs but about a kilometer away. Still calculates route though

The 2.2 works fine except for updating apps from the AppStore and editing the notes. I can do nothing with them. I love my iPhone, but this sucks!!!

Is there a way to delete this update?

Ever since I updated, a lot of websites are not working. When I check fantasy sports teams on Yahoo only half the page pulls. Hotmail on safari is screwed up (worked just before I updated the other day) and a lot of websites restrict where I can scroll too. This has been a pain and has ruined some of the most important things I do with my iphone.

Same issue as Rykkers, no true GPS fix. It seems to only be using the estimated location based on cell tower and possibly WiFi location databases.

Applications that use location services (e.g. CPS Tracker) show that the location fix is non-GPS.
