Yesterday was meant to be a great day for Xbox 360 users, as they were able to download the Live update of Xbox Experience. It has not even been 24-hours since NXE update and already the complaints are coming in, some with RRoD problems.
A number of forums on the Internet are showing that Xbox 360 users who upgraded to the new Xbox Experience have noticed that their consoles are slowing down, connection freezes, lock ups, and a number of other errors.
The Red Ring of Death reports is a shock to many, some have said that the RRoD is only affecting modded consoles; however there are some untainted Xbox 360 consoles that is also meeting the same fate.
As yet there is no official response from Microsoft. Have you been affected by any problems since the NXE update?

Downloaded new experiance. RROD. Unmoded XBOX 360.
Downloaded the update on Friday the 21st, last week. The machine restared to the RRoD. I’ve tried everything since then. It’s an unmoded one dated 2 Feb 2006. I borrowed it from a friend to check it out, I didn’t play it much at all, I’m not a big gamer. I’ve spent all weekend reading about the problem. I know for sure now that I will Never Ever!!! be getting this console. My friend is gutted. I will do whatever I can to ensure everyone knows about it. It’s just shambles!!! I’m discusted. The machine worked perfectly before th update and have never overheated!!!!!
This and the PS3 Firmware 2.4 update are examples of why you should NEVER download major software updates until after at least one month after release. Holding off on updates will allow developers time to fix bugs in the updates. To prove a point, I am still using iTunes 7.6. I refused to install iTunes 8 until next year and I’m sure glad that I did; my iPod is safe.
I turned on my XBOX 360 last night to watch a DVD we rented. It prompted me to download an update, so I did. The XBOX restarted and I saw this new cool splash screen and then what looked like a “select a profile” page flashed up for a split second. The screen went black and the XBOX 360 spun down and went quite. Three red rings appeared on the front. It was dead from that point.
I called an Al Queda agent somewhere in Pakistan that pretended to be a Microsoft AGENT. The idiot could not understand ANYTHING I said, even after spelling phonetically for him.
I got a UPS shipping label for my unit but my info was totally wrong for the return address. The info attached to my Live account that he inputted was also completely wrong. I went in and changed it all and called them back… this time I got thru to someone in the USA and they fixed my shipping label.
I am now in the process of waiting for Microsuck to fix my XBOX!
I got my first RROD in July this year, microsoftcock fixed it, then power brick went in August. Downloaded the NXE last thursday, bought guitar hero world tour on friday, turned on the console saturday morning and got the RROD! That’s twice in 4 months, oh joy!
Phoned microsoft customer service (bunch of incompetent f*ckwits from eastern europe) and after 5 days of complaining i finally got them to correctly send the label to UPS and they collected it today. Also managed to wrangle a free game out of microsoft for complaining so much. I love my 360 but seriously getting pissed off, to break once is bad, but twice in 4 months is a disgrace, hopefully they will give me a new unit back, but will likely be a refurb unit.
I had 3 red lights before the update after watching a DVD, rebooted and everything was fine did the upgrade and chooses my mees and then got RROD. Am waiting for MS to email my label, did this online - what a hassle you have to sign up to loads of stuff – a lot of hoop jumping.
They only give you 20 days to send them the RROD xbox, you have to supply the box and it ups to me to ensure it is packaged if not they can reject the repair. Under UK law they are responsible for collection and goods must last a reasonable length of time.
I downloaded it yesterday, works perfectly
the xbox aint moded
We have two XBox 360 consoles. One we bought refurbed from GameStop and the other we bought from a neighbor who was tired of it. Two days after the update our first system quit with a red light in the lower right quadrant with error code “E 73″ (ethernet error). Contacted Microsoft and UPS will pick up the console today for repair. We attached the hard drive to the spare XBox and have been using it, but then today it also started up with the same red light in the lower right of the ring. This time with error code “E 68″ (voltage/hard drive error). I removed the hard drive then restarted the system and it worked fine, so I put the hard drive back on it and so far so good, but we have noticed that our game save data for the new Call of Duty World at War has been erased. Our other games are still saved. We had NO problems until this “new experience” download. I’ll probably be sending the hard drive off for repair soon as well I’m betting. I wonder if there is any way to go back to the old experience?
I finally got my xbox back and it works fine now. I strongly recommend keeping the box they sent it in because you may need it again. If you have the box, you only need to print out the mailing label to send it back rather than wait for them to send you the empty box. Saves a few days of not having your xbox.
I just downloaded the new update on a completely stock system, and it caused a RRoD immediately after the update completed.
