Samsung 256GB SSD: price will be scary
By: Daniel Chubb | November 20, 2008 | 2 CommentsIt is all good that Samsung has started mass production on its Samsung 256GB SSD but the worrying part is “will the price be scary? These new Samsung 256GB solid state drives (SSD) for desktop PCs and notebooks will be great we know that for a fact, but we really need to know what the price will be and then and only then can we stand easy.
The 256 gigabyte Samsung SSD will more than double the likes of Samsung 64GB and 128GB SSDs when it comes to performance rates and with combining sequential read rates of 220MB/s (megabytes per second) with sequential write rates of 200MB/s we can see something really good.
Samsung has not yet revealed the price as of yet but what we do know is that these new Samsung 256GB SSDs are mind-blowing, if all the technical terms of 200MB/s and all is to confusing let me put it another way; basically the new SSDs will be more than enough to store 25 HD movies in 21 minutes and will even open simple applications 10 times faster than the say 7,200RPM notebook drive.
