Netflix has stopped Xbox 360 users from streaming movies which are distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment. Films such as ‘Superbad’ and ‘We own the night’ will remain blocked on Microsoft’s console until Sony say otherwise.
Netflix VP of corporate communications Steve Swasey told MTV Multiplayer that they hope this problem will be sorted soon, but stated that Sony’s movies are still viewable on other Netflix enabled devices such as PCs and Macs.
Until Sony and Microsoft become friends, it’s unlikely that these titles will be viewable on the Xbox 360, so viewers will just have to wait and see what happens, and if Microsoft can agree some sort of licensing deal with Sony.

Sony are clearly applying the same techniques they used to kill off HD DVD, some could argue that has backfired on them.
When will they learn that giving people freedom and choice will win through, surely preventing 360 owners from viewing Sony content will reduce revenue not drive people to buy a PS3.
wow sony are just being gay, we dont see microsoft banning sony from using windows on their computers
Its not a “POWER PLAY” by Sony. Netflix (not SONY) failed to renew its licensing aggrements in time for the NXE release. PERIOD. The movies will be available as soon as the licensing terms are agreed upon.
As Netflix itself stated, ” licensing agreements among films and distributors are constantly expiring and being renewed, there is an ebb and flow to it, and in this instance we simply failed to file the agreements in time”.
Whomever is responsible for this article should do a little more research before making the suggestion that ” Until Sony and Microsoft become friends, it’s unlikely that these titles will be viewable on the Xbox 360″. Seriously, did you even read the press release? Sony and MS will never be “buddy buddy”, but their differences have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the status of said licensing agreements.
