Lips Review for Xbox 360: Can it touch SingStar on PS3?

SingStar has a new rival in town and it comes in the form of ‘Lips’ for the Xbox 360. It was released on the 18th November and is developed by iNis and published by Microsoft Game Studios. Gaming site Eurogamer has given their review of the game and as expected compares it to PS3’s SingStar in many aspects.

While Lips introduces some nice additions to the genre such as motion sensing wireless microphones which SingStar do not. But the game seems to suffer from bad gameplay, as Eurogamer states that the game’s ‘competitive elements are fundamentally flawed.’

Eurogamer scored Lips a 5/10, and said that this game should only be considered if you don’t have access to SingStar, quite a blow to Microsoft then. You can read the whole 2 page review in the link below. Let us know your thoughts.

Eurogamer said it was too easy, but on lips my wife gets big bang rank on coldplay “yellow” and I can’t come close to that. Which it pleases me to say is probably the way it ought to be. Also I tried scoring poitns by rubbing the mic across the carpet versus singing and again it scored the carpet very low and my actual vocal performance higher. Tried the whole carpet trick with singstar and it did the same thing. Bummer there isn’t video sharing, but then again I don’t have a camera so big deal.

I really really like this game and was puzzled that Eurogamer gave it such a low score, for what it is worth I find its much deeper than singstar. Now if Msft can step up the downloadable content already!

Usually, the first comment followed by subsequent comments are nothing but fanboy-flame-wars. I thank you for not being a complete ass and actually giving a decent point of view. Also, as usual, the whole article is very poorly written and seems to only want to start a flame war. The author really shows his/her “talent” with this piece.

You’ve just taken it’s worst review which doesn’t seem very balanced, but OK by that means SOCOM: Confrontation got 3.3/10 from “Game Revolution” so we’ll use that score to judge it shall we?
Game Revolution states “The only reason you should buy this game is for the headset pack-in” quite a blow to Sony do ya think.

If you want i can carry on digging up the worst review scores, and putting a quote of why they didn’t like it, if you think that’s a balanced way of judging it.
Here’s one more since SOCOM’s reviews weren’t great at best.

Resistance 2, Edge Magazine gave 6/10, Variety gave it a slightly less embarrassing 7/10 and said “the miserable single-player campaign leaves Resistance 2 as more of a party barge than the flagship Sony needs.”

P.S. I’m not bashing these games, i’m just making a point, Resistance 2 shouldn’t be judged 6/10 and SOCOM as bug ridden as it is still deserves more than 3.3/10, Lips hasn’t had enough reviews yet to get a picture but VideoGamer gave it 8/10 as did some others, i’ll make a judgement when all the scores are in and based on an average.
