Konica Minolta’s Really Tiny Projector
By: Peter Chubb | November 20, 2008 | Leave a CommentKonica Minolta Opto has developed a really tiny projector, looking at the 20×40x7mm measurments this could be one of the smallest projectors to come onto the market. Reports say that the projector is as small as a USB stick, as a result will only require 1W of power.
Just because the projector is small does not mean that it will not produce a big image, just position it 50 to 60cm away, and a 20-inch color image in XGA resolution will be projected. Konica Minolta has used piezoelectric elements to vibrate micro mirrors, instead of a projector lens at 30KHz.
It is rumored that Konica Minolta will offer the tiny projector to the consumer market within the next two to three years. As yet there are no real images of the new device, the above image is not the projector, it is just used for illustration.
