Touch Screen: BlackBerry Storm, LG Incite and iPhone Bad Points

It seems that every new cell phone that’s released has a touch screen interface and this might be to meet the demand of consumers who want these next generation features on phones, but they do have their problems.

Millions of phone buyers have never owned a touch screen phone and want to experience it, they do have so many advantages but with all technology, the more advanced it gets the more problems you end up having.

Some of the latest touchscreen phones include the iPhone 3G, BlackBerry Storm and LG Incite. Personally using the iPhone for a while I can confirm that its touch screen is both revolutionary and a pain at times. Apple iPhone owners, has your cheek ever turned the loudspeaker on?

You may not need a touch screen phone, but one day you may have no choice with more and more phones having them. Touch screens are also a lot harder to use for texting and email, there is no tactile feedback like on normal cell phones

If you love watching videos and movies on the move then the large touch screen is a must, but watch out for the screen scratching easily.

What do you love and hate about touch screen phones and do you own one?

I am an owner of an INCITE from LG. I am still trying it out but the bad points mentioned in the article is general fears of the touchscreen interface.
    1. INCITE has a built in proximity sensor that shuts off the touchscreen when held up to your face. Have no idea how it works but it hasn’t misfired yet!
2 You can emulate tactile feedback on the BB and INCITE. There is a click and a very small buzz when the screen is touched (NOT when actually interfacing with correct input.)
    3. $5 at your local super-department-store can grab you a set of 3-5 plastic skins for screen protection that does NOT hinder the touch interface. In a world you can buy crock phone cradles and a surround sound docking station for a MP3 player this is trifling passing it up.
