New Xbox Experience: Download the Live update

Microsoft has sold almost 25 million of their Xbox 360 games consoles, and their Xbox Live was looking a little tired. Gamers demand more now, so Microsoft needed to come up with the goods to keep them happy. Well today Microsoft has done just that with the launch of Xbox Experience, and the Live update is now ready for download.

This new version of Xbox Live is Microsoft’s big push into social networking, but it does not stop there. Microsoft have now introduced Avatars into the new Experience, something which they knew worked well with Nintendo Wii users.

One of the best features has to be Netflix, which is something that could help the Xbox 360 become even more popular. It was no secret that Microsoft used to favor HD DVD, but that media format lost out to Blu-ray. Microsoft has said that they will not back Blu-ray; instead they would prefer live streaming HD content, which is where Netflix comes in.

Download the new Experience now and let us know what you think.

Pretty damn good but I think if microsoft go too far with the avatars. Use them in gameplay for example the 360 may start to look too much like the nintendo Wii. I still believe the 360 is the best console around.

Downloaded it last night to all 3 xbox’s. very impressed with the new look. Very refeshing and up to date, easy, fast navigation. Feels like having a new console again. I do like the feature to install a game to the hard-drive. I like the avatars (and so too does my daughter) but will wait and see what online community games are brought out to take advantage of them. Two thumbs up .

So I did the download and now I have no sound….

This is the worst. I have religiously used my X-box 360 console for intense gaming for the last two years with no problem. That is of course, after straight up replacing the first one i had due to getting the ring of death for no apparent reason. Now with the NXE just shortly after downloading and playing a few rounds… CRAAAAASH… E-74 hardware failure. Oh and PS: my warranty is up which leaves me SOL. Thanks X-Box for crashing my system and leaving me to the foot the bill during this sh*tty economy. I’d rather save for Playstation 3

Mike, I hear ya, Im not even a big gamer, I play a little of Madden and a few shooters just everyonce in a great while. With this said, I downloaded the new “great” xbox esp, and boom, 2 freezes later and I get a E74 msg…. a short term fix btw, is to simply over heat the console, but I think this is simply short termed.

I downloaded the new upgrade and poof no sound through HDMI. Hope they fix this fast!

“I downloaded the new upgrade and poof no sound through HDMI. Hope they fix this fast!”

Same here. WTF is going on?!

  8. Bryan says:

for Mike or anyone who gets E 74 from this, this is what I did and it has worked thus far (over a day) ,

Wrap the Xbox in 3 towels, unplug the video feed, and turn it on, while in the the 3 towels the xbox will over heat in about 5 or 10 mins, this is “baking” the xbox, and it sometimes fixes the problem , or sometimes simply fixes it for a short time, but still a option.

Lost my sound too after applying the update thru hdmi, hooked up the cables that came with it and still had no sound. Called tech support and got the run around…. blah blah blah, stories and more stories.. fix this, I’ve it it for less than 2 weeks and played 3 games and maybe 10 hours of playtime… they say 4 or more days for a fix..huh.. wtf its friday night and I can’t play.. my only f**n day off
