By: Daniel Chubb | November 19, 2008 | 2 Comments

There have been a list of changes for the brand new 2010 Mercury Milan and we have already told you about the new 2010 Ford Fusion which looks promising, the reason we mention the fusion as well because these two models are pretty similar on the grand-scale of things.

But we want to let you know what are different between the two, the Mercury 2010 Milan has had a total redesign which now include brand new front and rear fascias which come on does look great (Pictures via source below). You have a choice of three engines whereas the Ford Fusion only got two sizes, the 2010 Milan choices includes the all new 2.5L four-cylinder producing 175 hp, or the 3.0L V6 which produces 240 horsepower and then there is the all new Milan Hybrid which is basically similar to that of the Ford Fusion Hybrid, the Milan Hybrid can do 47 mph on all-electric power.

The 2010 Mercury Milan hybrid beats the Toyota Camry hybrid by 5 mpg in the city; this new hybrid features SmartGaugeā„¢ with EcoGuide coaches hybrid drivers to maximum fuel efficiency. The 2010 Mercury Milan will be available in dealer showrooms in spring 2009. For the full press release and photos please visit autoblog.

No. The Mercury 2010 Milan has NOT had a total redesign. It’s called a “re-skinning”. The platform structure is the same ‘ol Mazda 6 platform – with some refinement – which is fine – but don’t invent fake facts. If you remove the word “total”, it would be OK to just say redesign – as long as you explain the platform has not changed. Also, the Fusion and Milan are much more than similar, they are “twins”.

Love the car got the I4 with a couple of the basic packages. Looked at the hybrid but they wanted $10K more. Tough to get that money back before 10 years of ownership.

    A couple of nuisances

    1) The ride is bumpier than I would expect but I used to drive an explorer so maybe that is expected (handling
however is superb so maybe that’s what you get with
    handling).

    2) I have a compass and a whole cluster telling my fuel economy and miles to empty yaddi but they won’t give you an outside temperature reading without spending several thousand more on what is I presume is either the premium package or the navigation system. Can’t
understand it because I will bet you money it is already in the display but they set the software so that you can’t see
it. Note to others – you can buy a little outdoor sensor for $20 on the net.

    3) The preprogrammed radio buttons spontaneouly and regularly blow their brains out. I have had to reprogram the buttons twice already and I have only had the car a week.

    4) While we are on the subject of nav system. Save your money cuz, cuz, you can buy a tom-tom or a garmin for a couple hundred bucks (and take it with you)
