5th Day with Call of Duty 5 World at War on Sony PS3
Filed under: Hands On

World at War has been out for nearly a week now on the PS3 and I thought I would share with you some of my experiences I have had up until this moment with the game.
Well I picked up my copy on Saturday, and have only played it a few times. I have not had the chance to go through the whole single player campaign yet, I instead prefered to jump straight into multiplayer mode and see how I did since I was a experienced cod4 player. When I first went into a game there were a number of things that immediately came to my mind.
The maps are great firstly. There is a good variety of detailed maps here, with each one having great visuals with plenty of places to explore. Maps such as roundhouse offer plenty of routes and places to hide out, while smaller maps such as Dome I found even more fun, as compared to COD4’s showdown map. I liked the fact that friends are now highlighted as blue markers on the map, making it much easier to help out a friend in need. While a lot of people have been criticising the attack dogs, I think they are great and not too annoying as it’s pretty easy to take them out when they come near you. We all remember how annoying a Chopper on Shipment was don’t we!
The weapons are also a great addition to the series, a lot of people have been posting about the weapons being too unbalanced, but after I got to grips with some of the weapon classes, they actually are quite fun and challenging to use, I like the way the aiming system is slightly more harder and requires more focus to take down an enemy from distance.
These are only some of the few things I have mentioned about the game during my few days on it; there is obviously a lot more great things about the game. Also everyone knows about the connection problems that people have been encountering on the ps3, but once that has been fixed up and I’m confident it will, then we have ourselves a decent shooter that will be receiving a bit more of my game time than I previously thought.
What your opinions of the game so far after its short release? Leave your comments below.

Let’s hope it does. I was a late bloomer to COD4 and I loved it. I will probably wait until I have read that all of the major network issues have been resolved before I jump into it.
was unsure at first but this game is great and every bit as addicting as cod4 if not more. wish there were more multiplayer maps. ive never had any network connection issues on psn. ps3 is the way to go
after all the cod games in the passed years, have you not found that they had not attempted to mix up the weapons at all? we have spent our hours playing call of duty, and yet we are forced to use the same guns. i agree that the firearms have gotten quite a bit more advanced in terms of aiming and realism, but again…its the same weapons! Kar 98, trench gun, gewehr 43, and espically the springfield…. im bored of them!! cod 5 took a step in the right direction with the side-by-side 12 gage, sawed and flamethrower, but im still not quite satisfied. mabey im just to critical lol
(dont think i can ever get tired of the ppsh, though
)
