Xbox 360, Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii: Who’s Winning?
By: Alan Ng | November 18, 2008 | 4 CommentsAs we come up towards Christmas, those without a next-gen console will be hoping to pick one up, but with statistics and figures coming up all over the place, who is actually winning at the moment?
Well although some people might be slightly surprised, the Nintendo Wii continues to sell very well according to the latest sources from the NPD group. The Wii has overtaken the Xbox 360 in unit sales and this is a trend that has happened since the launch. While the Nintendo Wii may not be the console of choice for some of us, it certainly hasn’t stopped people buying it, and the demand for it remains very high.
The Xbox 360 can also record a victory of their own as their nearest competitor in graphical terms the Sony PS3, doesn’t even come close. In terms of software sales, Xbox 360 is the clear winner as they have been available for longer. Another thing in Microsoft’s favour is that maybe they don’t see the Wii as a direct competitor anymore due to Nintendo’s target audience, and just prefer to focus on competition with the PS3.
