Xbox 360 Recession-Proof: Are Microsoft Wrong?

The recession related posts keep coming now, and today we have heard that Mindy Mount, the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division has said that the Xbox 360 is a recession-proof product that won’t be affected by the economical effects that may occur within the world at the moment.

Hang about; didn’t we just hear the same thing about World of Warcraft saying that they won’t be affected either by the Recession? It seems that all the big companies are queuing up to assure the public that they won’t be affected by the recession. I wonder who will be next to come out and make a big statement to the media.

Back to Mindy’s comments as she believed that the Xbox 360 will be targeting an install base of more than 25 million by the end of this month, a figure that will mean they over take numbers sold by the original Xbox. Another fair comment she makes is the fact that more families are now interested than ever in purchasing a console as they believe that they offer entertainment opportunities for the entire family, especially with all the console price cuts that have happened.

Check the link below for the full story; do you guys think that the recession will disrupt the games industry? It will be interesting to hear your comments below.

    “Are Microsoft Wrong ?”

    ???

Anyway…360 has alot of fun family games coming out that should appeal to families. Scene It, In the Movies and all of the party games with the new Xbox Live UI.

People need to look at Wii and realize you don’t need a Hard Drive or internet to have fun on a console so save me the ” well if you add what PS3 already has to the 360 then it costs blah blah blah. “

  2. Jim says:

I don’t no if they are Recession-Proof or not but judging by PS3’s killer app LBP, down to 19th place in the game charts, i’d say they’ll weather it better than Sony.

  3. The Yen is weak aginst the dollar right now meaning Nintendo and Sony may struggle to make the money they deserve selling their hardware abroad.
But im more concerned about covert operations in Outer Mongolia, c ya

  4. Thats a valid point Jim, I forgot it was even out, I have been too busy with hordes of locust
