Review: Snakebyte Retro Controller for Nintendo Wii
By: Daniel Chubb | November 18, 2008 | Leave a CommentThis is the Snakebyte Retro Controller for Nintendo Wii and we have had a chance to play with it for a few days. The WiiMote is great, but sometimes there are better solutions when it comes to certain games that need something a little more console.
The Wii Retro Controller is in the form of a gamepad and has eight digital actionplay buttons, 2 analogsticks and a digital cross. It feels comfortable to hold and easily beats the official Sony PS3 controllers, and the reason I mention this is because it’s one thing that can easily be forgotten like Sony did with their next-generation games system.

This controller is ideal for Virtual Console Games and video games that need a retro or classic controller. The analogsticks feel really responsive and just fit perfectly in your hands.
While the controller takes two AA batteries to power the device, it was a near impossible task to remove the covers. They just slide off but it took some work to remove them, and this may not be possible for a small child or elderly person.

Other features include Black and White colour options, useable with Snakebyte-Riimote and Wii-Remote, and a highly ergonomic shape.
For us this is a must have accessory for the Wii, some games just need a classic gamepad and if you love the classics then it’s a must.
