Having only tested Call of Duty 5: World at War for a few hours we have not been able to test everything but in this short time we have noticed something really bad with the Sony PS3 version…connecting to friends.
Surely these COD5 problems are not just with the Sony PS3 version of the game, the Xbox 360 must have them as well. If you have played the 360 COD 5 then please confirm if you have had connection problems.
Some gamers have been sharing their problems with Product Reviews, one gamer said “Had the game since sat and not once stayed in the same team twice in a row! keep getting kicked out. Also unable to join with friends either when I invite them or they invite me! Very disappointing”.
Another person who has had no problems with COD 4 connecting from Canada to UK users had this to say “My husband has been playing COD4 online with his friends from the UK, (we are in Canada) however since we bought COD5, he can no longer play online with his friends from the UK. It still shows they are on his friends list, he can message them, he has tried to deleted them then reinvite them, we have tried everything including the download, he keeps getting an error, unable to join party message!!! Really really frustrating”.
Are these Call of Duty 5 gamers alone and is this issue tied to just the Playstation 3?

I recently bought COD5 and I’ve played a few games with some friends on my friend list and it worked fine for me. It depends on your connection and who your connecting to. I have trouble getting in a chat room on ps3 with just this one particular guy, and I’ve heard things of the same nature from 360 owners, not being able to connect to certain people and so on. Try having different players as the host each time and see if it works.
Well, I just got Call of Duty: World at War for the Playstation 3 yesterday and I initially had a problem connecting to my friend’s parties. After about 3-5 invites I was able to get into the parties and stay in them. As far as the online, its a bit more robust in terms of host stability and host migration (the game tells you why the Host Ended the Game, a great feature),
must just be a PS3 thing, ive had no such problems with my 360 copy, all friends, teams, party’s etc work fine, no getting booted unless my net crashes, shame to hear PS3 version is having these issues, it really needs these games to keep up with 360
it’s not COD5.
No problems with COD5 connections, but COD4 is now a nightmare. Unable to join friends and matches ending early due to server errors. Huff
Reminds me of COD3!
I haven’t had any problems with the xbox 360 version.
xbox works fine
typical 360 gamers. wen wil they learn the 360’s bein turned in2 the new wii! its a shame but oh well. ps3 is charging!
I have found that since COD5 was released I get a “server time out” error and the end of nearly every COD4 game it hangs on the rankings screen the disconnect with the error message showing. I bought COD5 and after an hour on the console I had clocked up a game time for 11mins, due to disconnects and server time out errors. It takes ages to connect to a COD 5 match and some times not at all and I have toexit all the way out and back in, this is exactly what used to happen when COD4 was released. Fingers crossed these are teething issues BUT STILL REALLY ANNOYING
