Call of Duty 5 World at War Problems: Sony PS3 and Xbox 360

We reported last week upon the opening weekend for Call Of Duty: World of War, that some people were encountering issues to do with connecting to matches or problems in the lobby. Well it has been a few days now, and it appears that some people are still encountering issues.

While mostly, the servers seem to be fixed from when it went down on friday night for some ps3 users, there are still some problems when ‘downloading game settings’ or getting kicked from a host when starting/finishing a game.

It is a bit worrying when Treyarch are having all these problems just a few days after its release, maybe they should take some time to actually listen to all the feedback on their official forums and try to find a solution to all these server problems that gamers seem to be having.

Have any of our readers been on the game lately? Let us know if you are still having trouble within the lobby by leaving a comment below.

I have the blutooth problem when using a headset involving the lag and im still suffering the lobby problem. Not been able to connect to a lobby from anyone, all i get is Error after Error. They should’ve done a proper Beta test.

I bought the game the first day it came out. I played through the Single Player right away and it’s awesome. However, when I try to get online I still get the “Downloading Game Settings…” and it sits there forever. At first I thought my router might’ve been blocking some ports it needed, so I added it to a DMZ, but that didn’t help. Second, I checked with my university to make sure they didn’t block any ports needed, they didn’t. I just tried deleting all the game data (thinking maybe it had something to do with the update), but they made the update mandatory, and I still can’t get online. This is really frustrating me…

I think we can all agree that we loved Call Of Duty 4, am i right? well i guess things are now changing, Call Of Duty WAW, is a awesome game, i enjoyed the single player gaming and the zombies, but since i got it i only played twice online, due to disconnecting after the match and it takes a while to even find a match. Abit of lagging with the mic on too, and the worst problem i had was not being able to play with my friends from the US or Canada. If you notice when you play online from england you will only have european players on, the american server is not connected with the european server and vice versa. This alone has made me almost stop playing the game fullstop. I am dissappointed with the game, and i have contacted Activision and still no joy. Treyarch need to stop counting all the money and offer the customers a better service by sorting this out, because more and more people are getting fed up with it, and iv almost reached my limit now. Treyarch, sort it or the game gets dumped!!!

Hi, i bought the game yesterday and got to play it once on solo mission, and today i have tried to play call of duty world at war and it wont even friken open on multiplayer or single player!!!, when it does it takes 4-5 minutes to start and then just crashes, which is bizarre because cod4 i have had no problems with at all and have completed the game. I am VERY DISSAPPOINTED so far. All it come up with when i try to start it is “directx encountered an unrecoverable error, view readme for solution”. Trouble is i cant find a bloody readme!. Any suggestions anybody??

Its mostly frustrating when I want to get lot of games in and then it kicks me out before intermission, and then I’m stuck searching for other players. It’s a big hassle and needs to get fixed very soon. Not the online play I was expecting…..dissapointing to say the least.

hey mike, if its asks u to read the readme file then that what u need to do, every game and software has a readme file somewhere in the cd. check through the files carefully and u shud find it somwer ther. U may have to delete yout old directx and download a new latest driver which normaly should come with the game.

I bought COD WAW the day it was released in Australia. Playing solo or online the game consistently mutes sound for roughly 3-4 seconds or the screen goes completely black for the same amount of time. I have swapped the game and it still does it. All of my other games work fine, no problems at all. Is it my Ps3 or the game??? Some help or advice would be muchly appreciated, thanks.

My brother and I both bought this game, so that we could play the co-op online. We were only able to do it twice and both times the game freezes afterwards. The worst thing is that after the second time, my brother’s playstation even broke. Now his playstation is not able to read any blu-ray or DVD. We called both the Sony helpdesk and activision to ask for solutions or reason what could be the problem. but both have been very unhelpfull and seem to have no knowledge about this problem at all. Both companies told me they were unknown to any problems with this game for online play, which seems to be strange to me, since so many people have problems with this game concerning online play.

hey james, iv not heard anyone having a problem with the sound and picture going out and it does infact sound like something wrong with the PS3, try putting the same game in a friends ps3 and see if it does the same problem. you will get your answer then.

whilst im here i already talked about the problems i had with the game, well its got worse, now the game is freezing and i have to switch it off from the power switch instead of shutting it down the proper way, but since getting this game its now freezing all the time with every game, this game may cost me a new PS3… DISAPPOINTED! i got a reply from activision regarding not being able to connect to friends, and their answer?? “ther is no way around this” “you can only play with friends from the same region”. cant be true if it worked fine on COD4, and since the update i can play now with SOME of my friends from the US/CANADA not all of em,
