Killzone 2 Multiplayer: Playstation 3 Review

Another review from the Killzone 2 multiplayer beta has appeared, this time from the guys at NZGamer.com, who have written a detailed article of what their opinions are and what you should expect from Killzone 2, when it is released early next year.

From the start of the beta, you are given two options, one is to join an immediate game or enter clan warzones. Clans are now a common thing in popular FPS shooters so it makes no surprise that clans are a main feature within the multiplayer. Within the multiplayer is seems the general essence of it is to compete for the in-game currency called ‘valor’. By winning matches and tournaments you accumulate valor and can use it to bet on tournaments or your own team, with strengths and weaknesses of a team determining the outcome.

There were three playable maps in the beta, the Radec Academy, the Salamun Market, and the Blood Gracht. Each one offered something different in terms of gameplay and variety, the Academy was fairly small whereas the market was large with players being able to spread themselves out in the map. Multiplayer modes featured some of the standard options with team deathmatch being appropriately named ‘Body Count’. Other modes included Assassination, Search and Destroy, Capture and Hold and Search and Retrieve, with some of the modes being able to support from 2- 32 players which is awesome.

With 7 classes to play around with, this game offers a lot, and from impressions from the beta, it carries with it a huge potential to be one of the biggest games to be released in 2009. With a multiplayer this good, let’s hope that the single player campaign does not suffer from its brilliant online mode.

What are your impressions of the beta?

Don’t have the beta, but I’m still wanting to get the game. Does anyone know if they will be releasing a Collector’s Edition with the release of the Original come February?

I’m willing to throw down an extra $10 bucks just to see how they made this game and the progression it took em for the last 4 years. If anyone knows, and can spot a link, that’ll be great! Thanks.
