The BlackBerry Storm is the latest handset from RIM, and in a shocking decision, went on sale in the UK before the U.S. The Storm was made available to the Vodafone network for free, for just £35 per month. This was the first weekend for the BlackBerry Storm in the UK, so were the sales figures as good as expected.
As yet Vodafone have not issued any sales figures, but we did know that thousands of the handsets were pre-ordered by customers. Before the BlackBerry Storm was made available to the UK, a RIM spokesman had been asked about possible sales figures, but declined to offer any ideas on how many units will be sold.
We have covered the BlackBerry Storm a lot over recent weeks, as we knew it to be a popular phone. We did the same with the T-Mobile G1 when that was launched in the U.S., and it was a bit of an anti-climax when the handset went on sale. It does seem that nothing compares to the Apple iPhone, as sales figures lived up to all the hype that surrounded the handset before the launch. Will the Blackberry Storm be able to repeat the success of the Apple iPhone?
