Quality Sony PS3 Titles Doubled in 2008
By: Alan Ng | November 14, 2008 | Leave a CommentThe Playstation 3 has had an interesting year, from a disappointing launch, many thought that the console would struggle as a result of it, and thought Sony would not deliver on their promises. One thing was a boost to the PS3 this year though, is the amount of titles it has released on it, and the rapid increase to its once minimal collection.
A lot of criticism was initially aimed towards the Ps3, some of it perhaps unfair. Reviews and numerous other critics slated the Ps3 for its lack of original titles and use of ports, while Sony continued to make promises that people were struggling to believe.
Things started to progress however after the successes of Devil May Cry 4 and GTA 4. Then a lot of other big titles started to follow, MSG4, Resistance 2, and LBP all receiving great reviews and scores.
Statistics from GameRankings.com showed that at the end of 2007, there were 35 PS3 titles that were ranking 80% or more. Currently, there are now 77 titles over that line too, which means that is an increase of 222%, more than double of that in 2007.
While it’s no secret that the PS3 had its initial problems, the console is starting to move along nicely, and we could be entering an interesting phase this Christmas.
