Call Of Duty:World at War – PS3 servers down?

ahhhhhhhhh soooo FRUSTRATING.
I just want to play wit hno lag!!!!
and no server crashes!!!!

The best way to avoid server issues w/ Call of Duty. Is to never buy their products. They sold out after CoD2. As a PC Gamer, I say burn in hell IW/Activision/and Treyarch. The series peaked at CoD1:UO. And has petered off, ever since.

You are entitled to your opinion and are in no way required to play the game. There are, however, hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of people who love the game and want to play. So do them all a favor and shut the heck up!

I havn’t had any issues with it as of yet, wonder if that could be hardware related, I am running original jap 20gb model with emotion chip and LAN only, not a single issue, havn’t tried on my 60gb premium UK yet. will keep you updated!

I played for couple of days already (in Canada the game was available since the 11th) the server problems only occurred today. Two previous days it was smooth, but today I got the simptoms described in the article. Can’t join online games, slow to download online settings, console freeze

I can’t join an online game too. It’s crap really you pay these people money and expect the games to work. Looking on the wed loads of people are having the same problem. I remember cod4 had the same problems. It was to do with needing a static ip address on your ps3. Stupid thing is I’ve not had any problems with Quantum of Solace which is the same engine.

It always seems to be Activision though. Crap un professional company.

In Dubai the game launched early. I got it November 8th and since then i have not been able to find a single online match. I look under boot camp, team deathmatch, free for all and all i see is my name and a message “”waiting for 5 more players…” its very annoying.

I’ve finished the solo game and i was not overly impressed. i’ve never played CoD 4 so i really had high expectations.

Dude, hundreds of hard-working people worked their butts off to make that game (which, by the way, you seemed to like enough to spend $60 on). It’s a tough job and something you couldn’t even begin to wrap your mind around so maybe you should have a little respect and quit whining about having to wait a short time while server settings are optimized to allow for the other millions of people wanting to play.

I’m English so used the pound. But thats not the point, if you buy anything you expect it to work. You buy a car you take it back if it wouldn’t start. I work hard in my job and if I cut corners like they have people would die. It about completing the task they broadcasted. Shoddie work pratice. Respect where its due not before.

well i had about 20 minutes of connection problems last night, but otherwise this game rocks. yeah its not cod 4 but thats the whole point. new maps, mew guns and a whole new challange. stop moaning and comparing it to what was a great game in cod 4 and ill still play online for another year no doubt, but also cod 5 is a stunning visual game and is great online. i was so pleased to see capture the flag back as its a great game type and the game in total is awesome. so lets stop comparing it because although they are games from the same series, they are totally different games and play totally different too so enjoy it for what it is and lets kick some but online!

Panda people haven’t compared the two games on this site. We are just complaining about the problem in getting to actually play a game you’ve paid for online.

Cod 5 is defenetely not as good as cod 4, and Ive got to admit I was a bit dissapointed about the fact that you throw a grenade and you can see it on the floor you only see the danger icon but its still a great game. I think cod 4 is more about the glory side of war and all that and this is more like the darker side of it.
Expect some online problems at the beggining cod 4 had problems too.

I noticed last night whilst playing on-line co-op with 3 friends, that at the end of the mission when each players points are being added up, the hosts PS3 crashes and needed rebooting. We had to take it in turns to host the game because when the hosts machine crashed, none of their points were saved.

I cant believe such a major bug made it into the game and was released. Surely they must of tested on-line co-op mode first.

I also get the ‘Downloading Game Settings’ msg hanging for around 5 minutes each time but they may be due to server traffic.

Oh, and I also can’t connect to friends in the states and they can’t connect to me.

This is a very poor start to a game that should be great.

ive friggin had it with cod 5, first PS3 dont get any beta or semo or whatever and then now f**ing sever crashes, what kind of servers are they using? i was about to go buy it right now, i change my mind.

I am unable to connect online today. I gues their servers are down? Anybody having the same problem?

Good game, need options for just sword, handgun and knife play. Just a thought.

Have been looking forward to the release of World at War. Ordered it to ensure I got a copy. Had to wait for ages for my missus to finish watching her programs on the T.V before I got my chance to get on my PS3. Finally get on to find I couldn’t play a bloody game online. Called a few of my mates to find there having the same problems. It would be nice if Treyarch posted something to let us all know that they are aware of the problem and reasure us that they are trying to deal with it.

Hey. ya the pc servers are down to, not to sure why everything is down, i was playing it on my ps3 today but the pc is down for some odd reason, im sure it will get fixed, no point bitching about it it fixes nuthing.

Last night, no problems whatsoever bar the co-op crashing thing.
Today however, I can’t connect to my friends… which is so frustrating… any solutions?

Just found out that just before your co-op mission is about finish, if the host quits the game then the PS3 doesn’t crash. You also keep your points as well.

This is just a temporary fix before Treyarch fix it properly.

I am extremely upset at the quality of this game. COD4 was frustrating, but nothing like this new game. Server down, disconnects, freezes, etc. like everyone says, but what really ticket me off was I went to bed last night at level 41 and this morning I went to play and I was back to level 37!! It actually lost HOURS of my playing time. Why do they have the statistic page after each game when it only says zero on everything, do they plan to ever activate that?? I will never buy another game from them again. Anyone else have any score disappear?

Same happened with me, play a game, finish it then it says servers connection timed out. Good game and should not be compared with COD4 but really should not have released the game with this many online faults. Also,, dont let the makers of the game blame OUR ISp, thats a favourite trick of theres.
Its there mess, E Mail activision and within a short period of time, it should be fixed.

i try to invite my mate for co-op and it keeps saying praparing for match then cuts off, and also when we finished co-op it crashed what the hell is goin on

Am so p***** of with this game i can only play a online match for about 5 minutes then i get kicked of and a error saying server disconnected and if a do mange to stay on a game at the end i get disconnecte VERY ANNOYED!

yer cod 5 for ps3 is phat, i can connect to games fine no problems all goes fine (i live in the UK) its only when trying to connect to a friends party or them connecting to mine doesnt work?? or when trying to connect to co-op mode?? this happened with cod4 sometimes, YOU WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THEy WOULD HAVE LEARNT FROM COD4??? this game isnt gunna win online prizes like cod4 did, good game but stupid school boy errors from a company who have years of experiance??? for £40/£50 you would expect problems like this, 75% of COD players who buy the game never play the single player and only play ONLINE, WAKE UP ACTIVISION…….FOR GOD SAKE !!!!!

i have had Virgin out 3 times in the last month and they have renewed my whole setup and told me that my connection is great. 40 quid for a game you cant play online, its a disgrace! i had to play through the single player mode on cod5 which was repeptitive and boring. online maps are bigger and have more feeling but cod4 set the benchmark for online multiplayer gaming and cod5 falls way short, i hope i get the chance to play it a bit more(connection pending) and be proved wrong!! It is very frustrating waiting to join a game and my ps3 freezes while doxnloading game settings. AAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which is a joke at the minute, im sitting here waiting to connect to a game which its not even doing! A refund is coming to mind! please get this fixed!

ONLINE GAMERS AT PRESENT 93567… AND COUNTING

I eventually gave up on Call of Duty 4 as I was getting annoyed with playing alongside good teams online, only then to be kicked out in the middle or end of each game. I have played games for over 20 years as I find them a good way to relax, BUT NOT WITH CALL OF DUTY, it leaves me more tired and very frustrated. I currently have two internet providers and use them for both work and play, they work well and I have no problems with either of them on any of my other systems or games. So, along comes Call of Duty 5. A good friend of mine and I both buy the game immediately in the assumption it will work better. But, it is clearly obvious they have done nothing with the server infrastructure to improve stability and performance. Get your money out activision and treyarch and spend some serious cash on fixing this problem. I am not buying anything else of yours until it is fixed, I feel so ripped off.

i have copies for 360 and ps3 the online mode on the ps3 version suck disconnecting server etc. whilst the 360 servers are fine and up and running but it can be laggy at times but at least u stay connected to friends i prefer the ps3 version as its quicker and easier to control but graphically 360 version is superior unlike cod 4…………..

Every time I finish a competitive co-op match the game freezes after it tells me what points bonuses etc meaning im unable to get the trophy for playing a competitive co-op or the trophy for winning one!!! Anyone else having this problem?

All the way from down under, Australia Sydney, game was released on the 11th and the server was absolutely awesome Until the last 3 days, i thought i had a problem with my PS3 or the actual game.
Playing online has been crappy as, you keep waiting then server would time out
and i can hear other ppl playing and on my screen its only setting up game, i wait for 2-3 mins then either i get kicked out, or join the game after it reached a score of 100 or 200 (on team death mathc)

World at War is basically the same online play as Modern Warfare. They added a few perk and you use the WWII era weapons for a different feel. I’m not sure why everyone is complain about how much better 4 is that WaW because they are both great games with awesome online play. The story modes of both games were kind of lacking, but that’s because games are all about the online play now, and the online play for both games is awesome.

Just bought world at war – as COD4 is banned in UAE – tried to find match ‘free for all’and no players, despite 34,185 players online!!! I’m gutted as I bought it for the online play & my COD4 disc got scrached! Please help!

I am also having problems with online. Sometimes it can find a game other times it just wont just says trying to join. Anyone any ideas to fix it or is it just something wrong with the game?

i like cod4. but cod5 is alright just that the game will freeze up after u finish a match. it does it mostly in the lobby. if u leave the ps3 on freeze mode for 20-30 seconds it unfreezes rather than going to flic the switch off on the back of the ps3. but what a annoying habit it has to be doing that cause it makes my modem go on a power trip. it has to reset itself before i can sign in again. i also hate playing hardcore search and destroy when my team has 3 players and other team has 9 players ??????? like what is that all about? iv seen where both teams got victory as a 4-4. like whats up wit this game?

When i first got waw for p23 it worked beautifuly right out of the package online. but since two days ago, all i get is ” getting match quality” and ” waiting for X number of players. I just got ps3, so i dont have the cod4 for it, but im thinking about going and trading 5 in for 4.

Started it yesterday, today I got to level 21 on online mode, then it decided that I had to level up to 22 before I got the rifle and handgun I unlocked at 21. Same problem at level 24, I can’t access the Bouncing Betty’s, and I have completed the MP40 Mksman III 3 times, and still not recieved the extra mag. Not very happy at all, I suppose they’re right when they say the followup is never as good as the first one.

I got call of duty world at war on the ps3 yesterday and its driving me mad as i cant get on line with it! i even took the game back and changed it for another one thinking it was a bad copy but i am still having the same problem, i never had a problem with cod4 on line aaaaaaaaaaa some one HELP!

It’s pretty simple. During an online game press Select. On the far right it column of everyones stats it shows the connection strength. For some odd reason, 29 out of 30 times I log in it has 1 bar. In this situation it takes 30 minutes to find a game and the lag is so bad I can’t get a kill in. If I have 3 or more bars everything is happy. I checked modem and router settings and internet signal strength. This game is the only one with the problem. Dont buy it until people stop complaining about these poor connections. Anyone know how to fix it?

i’ve had the game since launch day here in the u.s. i’ve noticed extreme wait time to play a game,severe lagging! game freezing indefinitely until you manually power off and reboot. the servers are the worst i’ve seen yet on a game. they have more glitches in game than any yet,the worst being the castle glitch were players can go under the map and kill everyone in the game without fear of being killed. you would think such things would be removed from game by quality control?

ya, it lets me play online just fine but when i go to join a private match with my friends it just says error server not available but it really is! I can sumtimes get on but not always.

When I try to play on line the games tell me that due to parental controls I am restricted from playing. Any suggestions that might help me get trough this? All of the parental control settings have been turned off.

Yeah, I have a suggestion for you Tony about the parental controls: go buy a game that is more suitable for a person your age, and wait to play the mature kill- everyone -and -curse- at- the- Universe -while -you -do -it games for later in life when you’re actually an adult and able to purchase games like this.

And if for some reason you actually do have this game and your parents are the ones who purchased it for you, you can tell them that they need some parenting lessons if they think it’s okay to purchase this game, or any other like it, for a juvenile.

u ppl waste ur cash…pc games r the best cuz best graphics n resolution etc. u can get any game for free via bittorrent patience and a keygen …n ppl who have a 20gb ps3 got ripped off unless all they wanted was an internal bluray player, 2 usb ports ugly exterior on the product ETC. my ps3 has a 500gb 2.5 sata 5400rpm 8mb cache harddrive & my ps3 has 4 usb ports originally plus i purchased a vertical stand the looks crazy …has a blue line of light outlining the base of the ps3 n on the side is a built in 2 port usb hub …runs off 1 ps3 usb port to work so my ps3 has 5 usb ports …built in wifi…bluray player …hdd full of tv seasons n movies that havent came out on BD yet (all converted to .mp4 using an hd converter designed to also convert for ps3 video..the type i chose is .mp4 1080p ps3 thats da actual option n it looks cooler …i have the BD remote, logitech mediaboard pro (bluetooth keyboard made for the ps3 with a built in touchpad as a mouse) ps3 eyecam as camera, official bluetooth headset .. i got 16gb sd cards CF memory stiks cuz my ps3 also has the built in memory card reader n my ps3 plays up to every ps1/ps2 game and it is running on a gold plated hdmi cable for video output n digital optical cord for 5.1 surround sound for audio output …n my ps3 is wired to a wireless n d link router n if any1 looked at the ps3 i got wen its standing u cant see wires cuz they hidden

The original 20gb PS3 came without Wireless, without a hidden card reader and silver edges….. everything else is the same, infact in most cases its actually better than its later successors, Oh yeah….it DOES have more than 2 usb ports. Ugly exterior? what PS3 doesn’t? Personaly I have a row of LED lights on the exterior of my 20gb version.

Heres a few pointers:

A) The original 20gb PS3 (with emotion chip) is the original workhorse model, unbeatable in reliability and performance.
B) The original 20gb PS3 (with emotion chip) allows COMPLETE back compatability with both ps2 and original playstation games.
C) The original 20gb PS3 (with emotion chip) allows space for a firmware mod-chip.
D) The original 20gb PS3 (with emotion chip) is the game developers primary choice for game testing, and sonys primary choice for firmware implementation and testing
E) The original 20gb PS3 (with emotion chip) had the original higher manufacturer quality parts.

The two best ps3′s for performance, quality and reliability have so far been:

1) The original 20gb PS3 (with emotion chip)
2) The very first roll-off of the 60gb Premium (with emotion chip) poduced in Japan.

Why not go for the 7200rpm 16mb Cache SATA3 version? I guess you decided to go for the cheaper option like most other people did when they purchased the 20gb version of the ps3, so don’t be so hypocritical of other peoples choices.
