Retailers often start to decorate their stores ready for the Christmas season; many retailers open their doors early, in the anticipation of crowds of shoppers looking to get a bargain.

Black Friday is a term that means a heavy day for traffic, but the media and merchants use the term to say that they are in the black, meaning they are turning a profit. Black Friday 2008 will be a testing time this year, as many shoppers have to tighten their belts, a direct result of a troubled economy.
