Tectoy Zeebo: 3G network-based gaming console

Tectoy are to launch a new games console, the Zeebo is a 3G network-based gaming console, and should be released in July 2009, in Brazil. The console will then spread to other markets in the months following July.

The Tectoy Zeebo will have a constant 3G connection and will be free, all games and content will be paid and then downloaded via 3G. The theory of this would mean that consumers would pay less, as well as cutting down on piracy.

Tectoy have come right out of the box and said that the Zeebo will not compete with the big three, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 and the Sony PS3. They say that their new games console is being aimed at emerging markets. The console will cost $599 in Brazil and a US dollar price of $258, with games costing $10 to $30

This is going to be interesting… another console producer trying to compete with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo
consoles like WII, PS3 and XBOX already have their space on the market and it’s not going to be easy to compete with them

let’s see where this is going to end…
