PS3: Gran Turismo 5 Crash Damage Problems

Kazunori Yamauchi, creator and producer of the Gran Turismo series, has said that Polyphony Digital is in talks with car manufactures to try and include crash damage in Grand Tirismo 5. Not having crash damage in Gran Turismo Prologue has caused nothing but problems for the developer.

It has always been a huge undertaking to convince car makers to allow Gran Turismo to include damage in their new game. Earlier this year head of ‘Ferrari Challenge’ developer ‘System 3′ said that convincing Ferrari to allow damage on their cars would be a “big challenge.”

The problem is Yamauchi is hoping to use realistic damage in a game, nothing like what other car racing games do. This could hurt the reputation of a car manufacturer, which is why they are reluctant to allow it.

I agree totally there should be crash damage, have this an option that can be turned off. It gets boring when you’re racing around and cars are just simply pinging off each other. They want the ultimate realistic simulation then this isn’t it! They need to finish the game and add crash damage, if manufacturers don’t want their cars to be shown damaged then how are they going to sell the actual cars? THey can’t sell their cars cos some road user might crash it and show other people what it looks like damaged. Come on thats a lame excuse crap if you ask me.Make it realistic and add damage…

Forza 3 is shipping with crash physics (probably horse b*llocks crashing) but you want that true feeling of sitting in a car then smash an Aston martin into a wall, flipping door mirrors, bonnet, glass been flown into the barrier, the Aston smashing into a Ferrari scuddera squashing the roof. now come on seeing it in real life is good but experiencing it is another! I mean when was the last time you planted your Mitsubishi evo X into a wall and laughed like a school kid

so ferrari think their cars will never break, and if they do break in a game it will ruin their reputation?

ferrari are a bunch of noobs…theres plenty of sports car manufacturers, id rather have a bugatti veyron if it allowed damage.

ferrari are coming out of F1 so their F1 car wont be in the full version anyway…

if damage is implemented, i just hope they dont go over the top with it because thats NOT what GT is about.

Ok ladies, they’ve already announced that the full version of GT5 will have a damage model. Dynamic weather as well… Oh and the race tracks deviate from the real thing by no more than 5cm at any point.

Ferrari a bunch of noobs? I disagree. They’ve been around probably longer than you have.
