Official: RED DSMC (Digital Stills and Motion Camera) System

RED has now made it official, they are to launch their DSMC (Digital Stills and Motion Camera) System, and should be ready by 2009. There will be a choice of two systems, the professional Scarlet or “master professional”

The cameras allow you to upgrade your EPIC brains; there are also a number of camera configurations to choose. The brains that are used in these cameras have been built upon Mysterium-X and Mysterium Monstro sensors, these start from 2/3-inch, and will go up to 6×17-cm.

The Scarlet range will have four choices, ranging from $2,500 to $12,000. These ranges will have a choice of different lens mounts. Epic are also to launch similar mounts, their prices start from $28,000 and will go up to $55,000. These will launch from 2010.
