Google Revives Ancient Rome with new Earth 3D map tool
By: Peter Chubb | November 13, 2008 | Leave a CommentIt seems that Google are capable of almost anything these days, as they have now revived Ancient Rome. Ok not literally, but they have introduced a new 3D map tool on Google Earth which allows us to see Ancient Rome in all its splendid glory.
The guys over at Google have managed to reconstruct the old city that was one home to over one million Romans back in AD320. When you use the updated version of the 3D map tool, you will be able to zoom in to the city and visit all the famous landmarks, from the Colosseum, the Basilica, and the Forum where Julius Caesar called home.
Google researches have said that over five centuries of knowledge have been used in creating this new project, but I have to say is all worth it. This is not only good for fun, but will be great when teaching history to children.
