BlackBerry Storm: Apple iPhone 3G Benchmark, Really?
Filed under: Cell Phone Information, Cell Phones

When Apple launched their iPod they took over the MP3 player market and became the benchmark for all new audio and media players.
Then we heard that Apple was going to launch a phone of all things, this was met with tons of skepticism and excitement from Apple fans thanks to a dedicated following of those that love all things Apple and Mac.
Now that we have had the iPhone and a newer 3G model, we are seeing many new cell phones compared to the iPhone 3G as if it’s now the benchmark in the high-end phone market. It’s funny how things go.
Phones Review have posted a good post showing ten reasons why they claim the BlackBerry Storm (RIMs first touchscreen) is better than the Apple iPhone 3G. You can check out those 10 reasons here or leave a comment below and tell us if you think the iPhone 3G is now the benchmark.

2 Reasons to buy the Blackberry storm.
#1. It’s on the Verizon network.
#2. The iPhone is married to AT&T.
End of lecture.
WIFI? For…..?
Hasn’t the iPhone had plenty of time for updates? jb to fix it? BB rocks and I’ve never even had to think about some jb rig up to get my phone working properly.
Storm all the way Baby!
Ofcourse the iPhone is a benchmark of a phone!!!
The vast majority of recent phones copying the way the iPhone feels and functions is testament to this fact imo.
Everyone has jumped on the bandwagon and tried to give their answer to the iPhone….and failed. lol
Plus the iPhone is soooo much more than just a phone. Let’s not forget it’s made by Apple, who make computers. They’ve got technological vision. Unlike RIM….he he he….. ;o)
Even with it’s shortcomings I prefer the iPhone over any other phone.
I “tailored” mine to fit around my lifestyle. I even spent hours rearranging the apps till I got it perfect. Now it truly feels like something that was made for me.
I could go on and on………………………………………
I’ve got the g1 it’s fair but the storm still on my mind I want 2 knw more bout it but look s like wi
nner
they both have pros and cons but mind you, bb storm is compared to iphone which is the benchmark to recent smartphones, to claim it has better functionality etc, not G1 or any other phones.
Storm is certainly an improvement and proper contender. Having said that, without iphone, Storm wouldn’t have existed today. Similar to win95 which brings new age to computing, iphone started the new era for smartphone market.
I’m sure there will be plenty newer, more powerful, flashing UI, loads apps phones out there to be developed and be compared, and eventually current iphone will be a history, but certainly a history to remember of !
10 reasons not to get the iPhone

I still cant understand why anyone would leave Verizon for crappy ATT service… the iphone isn’t even all that great… try sending a picture message…OOPS! can’t do it… how about video capture??? SORRY! and if you wanted to get insurance for your phone … guess what?? you can’t even insure an iphone!! you will have to pay FULL RETAIL FOR A REPLACEMENT.. YOU CAN’T EVEN CHANGE OUT THE BATTERY! I won’t even go into its awfully S L O W download speeds, and the fact you cannot download from other than itunes… you cannot even have a mp3 tone for a ringtone. Also iphones do not support flash or java which also limits is use. As for cell service and customer service, Verizon wins hands down… Plus with Verizon, you can change your calling plan and features ANY TIME for FREE and WITHOUT getting into a new contract, and they will even backdate calling plans AND credit the prior bill if you go to a new plan and have billed overages… Lets see ATT do THAT Plus their etf fees are variable, and get lower each month that you have service… Also their insurance will replace your phone for any reason- including physical and water damage… who else does that???
By the way — Verizon is coming out with the Blackberry Storm on 11-21-08, which will blow away other phones… it is a 3g touch screen phone with a 3.2 mp camera, video capture and removable memory (and battery! ha ha) and it is a BLACKBERRY! it’sonly 199.99 after the 50.00 mail in rebate… order online and rebates are INSTANT- and you don’t have to deal with ATT’s service…..
Oh— and to the people that state others are COPYING the iphone, they rare really IMPROVING the iphone to create BETTER phones that will work on BETTER services –
and i hear that ATT only has a 5 year lock on the iphone, after that others will be able to get it…
i have used both devices and i think the Storm is the new benchmark. it takes touch screen technology to a new level with its clickable screen; very easy to use and seperates the functions of navigation and selection to avoid user errors
