Samsung Behold vs T-Mobile G1 Phone

Buzz This

The T-Mobile G1 Phone is always being compared to the Apple iPhone 3G, but that is an unfair fight. Maybe the first Google Android powered phone should be compared to something that is more on a level with the handset, like the Samsung Behold.

The specs on both are impressive, but you can’t help but notice how much better looking the Behold is, but Samsung have a knack of designing nice looking phones. The Samsung has a 3-inch LCD color touch screen, 5 megapixel camera and camcorder with flash and auto-focus, included 1GB microSD Card and an HTML web browser. The Samsung Behold sounds impressive on paper.

The T-Mobile G1 has a slightly larger 3.2-inch TFT-LCD flat touch-sensitive screen; the camera is a lower 3.2-megapixel with auto-focus and only has a 192.0 MB built-in memory. Overall the hardware on the Samsung Behold is a much better handset, but it is the software on the T-Mobile G1 that’s makes it a good phone.

Which of the two do you think is a better handset?

g1 and behold are both compatible i think.. theres ups and downs for both.. if you want to buy a g1 then your going to anty up 25 to 35 more dollars just to activate it… if not then you cant activate it at all… best thing to do is ask saleman about the g1 activation fee on the phone….

Thanks to you all for leaving your $0.02. A special shout out to “Rich” for that detailed review. I was not previously interested in the G1 cos it’s ugly as sin and because it has no video camera. After reading many good reviews on the phone, I feel I have to consider it. I’m looking to upgrade to a touch-screen phone from my Samsung Blast. Actually, I was all ready to leave t-mobile for Verizon as soon as the BlackBerry Storm came out, but there’s too much drama with that phone right now. I’ll wait for the 2nd gen of Storms. I got a LG Dare a couple of days ago. Takin’ it back today cos it’s got a mind of it’s own. Wonderful phone, but there are too many glitches in this one. After returning this Dare, I’m gonna pop over to t-mobile to compare the Behold and the G1. Honestly, I’m leaning toward the Behold as it ain’t as grotesque (is that what the G in G1 stands for?). But at the end of the day, it’s what’s inside that counts. I’ll see for myself how the two phones mesure up.

IF THE BEHOLD IS IN YOUR POCKET DOES IT AUTOMATICALLY MAKE NOISE AND PUSH BUTTONS AND STUFF???
aND IF ITS IN YOUR POCKET AND YOU RUN INTO SOMETHING DOES IT CLICK SOMETHING???
ALSO IS IT HARD TO TEXT WITH THE TOUCH SCREEN???

I have been a Blackberry Pearl user for over 2 years. Loved the apps on the pearl . . .and used google mobile on the Pearl. Wanted to upgrade, b/c the Pearl I have is the first edition. I’m a woman and I love how the Behold looks . . .but looks ain’t everything. After less than 24 hours, I”m about to put my SIM card back into the BB and return the Behold.

If you are a data user . . .don’t get the Behold. It’s just an upgraded cell phone that can play videos. So what . . .I can’t download anything, and the customizations are minimal. My teenage sister would fare better with this phone. I”m not a tech geek, but I do believe that technology should be accessible and convenient.

I was originally thinking of getting the G1, but decided against it because it isn’t attractive. Now, I’m torn . . .Do I keep my hardware challenged BB and wait for the G1 to get the look together? I”m gonna continue to push this Behold to the limits over the weekend, but am leaning towards returning it on Monday in exchange for the G1.

It sucks, because I love this 5megapix camera.

All in all, if you do minimal web browsing, e-mailing, etc . . .you can live with the Behold. But I am on the go and need to be able to access e-mail instrantly (Behold makes you connect everytime and even then it’s wack compared to BB), as well as view docs.
