Samsung Behold vs T-Mobile G1 Phone

The T-Mobile G1 Phone is always being compared to the Apple iPhone 3G, but that is an unfair fight. Maybe the first Google Android powered phone should be compared to something that is more on a level with the handset, like the Samsung Behold.

The specs on both are impressive, but you can’t help but notice how much better looking the Behold is, but Samsung have a knack of designing nice looking phones. The Samsung has a 3-inch LCD color touch screen, 5 megapixel camera and camcorder with flash and auto-focus, included 1GB microSD Card and an HTML web browser. The Samsung Behold sounds impressive on paper.

The T-Mobile G1 has a slightly larger 3.2-inch TFT-LCD flat touch-sensitive screen; the camera is a lower 3.2-megapixel with auto-focus and only has a 192.0 MB built-in memory. Overall the hardware on the Samsung Behold is a much better handset, but it is the software on the T-Mobile G1 that’s makes it a good phone.

Which of the two do you think is a better handset?

  1. ok ok…. Where to start??
I am expecting my behold to arrivethis Friday (11/21/08) and I am very VERY excited! Not only am I getting the first full touch screen phone that has ever came out for t mobile, but I’m also getting the first phone with a 5.0 mega pixal camera to come out ona u.s. Carrier… Sure the g1 is the first google phone.. But me personaly what I’m getting is just as good or better… The g1 is of many( wing, dash, shadow) its a smart phone, t mobiles had many of those… But I say the samsung behold is better, and plus it doesn’t require for you to get a plan (idk about you but I want a nice phone that don’t have to pay more to use it’s features) and the desgin is WAY better, I love brown so yea… And the g1 is all hype, I’ve played with it and it’s very hard to find anything

    Thank you, martini herrera

    Ps. Behold wins!! G1killa!!

Okay everyone .. you really can not compare the Samsung Behold to the G1
    1. The G1 is a smartphone and Behold is not , Behold is just a beefed up Cellphone w/ touch screen.

I am also in the mix and not know what i want. But i think i will hold off on ether one because both have fuctions the other dosn’t.

What is keeping me from the Behold ( No WiFi, No Apps, No full Internet Viewing)

What is keeping me from the G1 ( No flash, No video record, Jay Leno Chin, No optonal on screen key board so do have to open flap every single time.)

So I will hold out for now.

I am so dissapointed with the g1….*tear *tear *tear.I am a tmobile wing user and I miss the on screen keyboard and the ability to operate my phone with one hand. My email is slow and the aim is horrible. I use my phone alot and I do not like the fact that I have to carry my charger with me everywhere I go…Needless to say I am shipping it back to tmobile today! I hope the behold makes me happier!

I’m thinking of getting the G1 or the behold, I’ve tried the iphone and fat fingers don’t work on the keyboard if I’m typing a g I end up hitting the t, h, f or b button. I’m scared to get the Behold because of that. Which would u prefer??? because I’m a sidekick user for the past 3 years (throw the tmobile dash in there for a year) lol

Let me know what you think of the Behold vs the G1. I really don’t like the fact that you have to open the slider everytime.

umm im totaly in love with touch screens so im still not sure which to get!!!
whan i used the g1 i mainly used the navigator ball, forgetting about the touch screen.
the behold did seem harder when using the touch screen

Um, so yeah, this is aimed at martinlovesyuri915… I just went to the store this afternoon and spent a good 40 minutes checking out both phones.
First off, you CAN’T use all the features of the Behold without buying a plan. You cannot, because it does not have wifi, and without a plan you have no internet functionality whatsoever. That requires an additional 19.99 a month, and you can’t even get the sale on the phone if you don’t have a data plan.
Secondly, the G1 has a fairly shoddy build construction next to the behold. The store had 2 on display, and one of them already had the sliding mechanism broken. Yet while the Behold has the touch which is superior to heat-touch, it requires a fair amount of pressure to work.
Finally, I actually prefer my phones getting smaller as they gain more features. If you could combine these two, that would be amazing. I’m going to wait out for a G2. Til then, I’ll stick to my little sliders that actually fit in my pocket.
Oh yeah, and the Iphone is evil, controlling, and will take as much of your money as possible for little added functionality.

I just got the Blackberry flip phone but i don’t like it. i was thinking of the behold and the g1. i really like the both but i am so undecided, do u think i should just keep the phone i got or what phone can u recommend. i don’t really need internet but i have it with the BB, I plan to cancel it. i see u planned to get the behold how did that work for you?

First let me admit I have never tryied or played with the Behold but as first glance it is a “turn on”,lol….I have had my G1 since maybe a few days be it was available in stores since I preordered it, and I have had SOME problems….not enough to want to get rid of the phone, but your basic problems you would expect from a phone that is so new to the market….some of the applications i downloaded didn’t work, but they were free so can i really complain???? the text messaging in great because i love the “sidekick” keyboard underneath…i also like the way the screen locks after no activity to prevent any accidental dialing by the touch screen…the plan is a little expensive i mean $35 on top of the $50 im paying for my talk plan is a little steep…overall im happy and dont plan on switching to the Behold.
