Samsung Behold vs T-Mobile G1 Phone

The T-Mobile G1 Phone is always being compared to the Apple iPhone 3G, but that is an unfair fight. Maybe the first Google Android powered phone should be compared to something that is more on a level with the handset, like the Samsung Behold.
The specs on both are impressive, but you can’t help but notice how much better looking the Behold is, but Samsung have a knack of designing nice looking phones. The Samsung has a 3-inch LCD color touch screen, 5 megapixel camera and camcorder with flash and auto-focus, included 1GB microSD Card and an HTML web browser. The Samsung Behold sounds impressive on paper.
The T-Mobile G1 has a slightly larger 3.2-inch TFT-LCD flat touch-sensitive screen; the camera is a lower 3.2-megapixel with auto-focus and only has a 192.0 MB built-in memory. Overall the hardware on the Samsung Behold is a much better handset, but it is the software on the T-Mobile G1 that’s makes it a good phone.

THE BEHOLD LOOKS WAY BETTER. BUT THE TOUCH ON IT IS DIFFICULT! IT SEEMS LIKE YOU HAVE TO PUSH HARD.THE G1 TEXTING IS ALOT EASIER. AND IF YOU ARE A MYSPACE FREAK THEN GO FOR THE G1. THE G1 ONE IS LIKE BEING ON AN ACTUAL DESK TOP/LAP TOP. REAL WEB BROWSING IS EXCELLENT AND FAST. AS FOR THE BEHOLD IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO USE. IT SEEMED LIKE U HAVE TO PUSH TWICE TO GET WHAT U ARE TYPING. ALSO WHEN USING IT SUCH AS EMAILING OR IMING OR ANYTHING THE KEYPAD MINIMIZES THE SCREEN SO REALLY UR DEALING WITH A 1.5INCH SCREEN. CREATERS OF THE G1 DID A GOOD JOB THEY JUST SHOULD OF MADE IT ALOT MORE SLEEK. IT IS SMALLER THEN THE SIDE KICKS. A G2 MAYBE COMING OUT. IM LOOKING FOWARD TO THAT. HOPEFULLY ITS SMALL!
I had the G1 and returned it for the Behold the G1 is trash don’t buy into all of the hype!
Ok I personally like them both but I think the behold is better. The G1 is too bulky for me. Its almost as big as my SideKick iD right now. The touch screen on the Behold is much easier for me to use. The G1 touch screen seemed to stick. I don’t have long nails but the G1 didn’t want to work well for me. Web on the G1 is better than the Behold. More or less like an actuall computer setup. The apps are decent, sill some bugs. The texting on the G1 is akward with the end that sticks out. The camera on the behold is MUCH better. It has a flash and a camecorder also. Plus the kicker for me was size. The Behold can still fit in my pocket with skinny jeans and the G1 feels like a log.
I am trying to sell my g1 so I can buy the behold. I am really upset at this moment because my phone has said I have no service for the last 5hrs do to the google inrernate down. If google is down then your phone is down. I don”t like this at all. This is the second time this phone did this to me. I can’t call 611 because its saying no network.
Don’t listen to B.D. He has no idea what he is talking about…the G1 is worth all the hype and more…its just awesome. I am an Ebay power seller and have sold hundreds of phones and have owned many and I can tell you the G1 is an amazing phone. What an idiot B.D. is. If you are thinking about getting the G1, get it!!!!
IZ THE IPHONE BETTA THAN DA G1……YES! DOES THE BEHOLD EVEN COMPARE TO THE G1….NOWHERE NEAR IT. I AM A PROUD G1 USER. I PRE-ORDERED MINES SEVERAL MONTHS N GOT IT 3 DAYS BEFORE ITS NATION RELEASE DATE. I HAV NO ISSUES 2 COMPLAINT ABOUT. IT DOES WAT THEY SAY IT DOES. I HEAR PPL COMPLAINING ABOUT THE “JAY LENO CHIN” (XTRA PIECE ON RITE SIDE WEN TEXTING) KEEP N MIND THE G1 IS A MEDIA DEVICE. YES…..IT MAKE CALLS AS WELL BUT IF U WANT A PHONE…….GO BUY A NOKIA. THE ALERTS R FINE. THE MARKET IS AMAZING. KEEP IN MIND IT TOTALLY FREE. URE NOT PAYING $6 A APP LIKE WIT THE IPHONE. ALSO……..WIFI IS KEY. YEA DA BEHOLD WILL BE FINE WIT ITS 3G NETWORK. HOWEVA…….SUPPOSE U LIVE IN AN AREA WHERE THERES LIL R NO NETWORK, WIFI’S YA AUTO BACCUP. LASTLY……..BATTERY DIS AND BATTERY DAT. ITS A MEDIA DEVICE WIT A 3 IN COLOR TOUCH SCREEN, MUSIC PLAYA AND VIDEO PLAYBACC. MYSPACE, FACEBOOK AND OTHA NORMAL FUNCTIONS WILL NATURALLY LOWER THE BATTERY LIFE IN TYME. KEEP A CHARGA WIT U @ WORK AND HAV A CAR CHARGA. PROBLEM SOLVED. IMA LEAVE Y’ALL WIT DIS…….THIS IS HTC’S 1ST GEN DEVICE. DA BESS IZ YET 2 CUM. T MOBILE G2 WILL ADDRESS ANY PROBLEMS DAT PPL BELIEVE IT HAS.
Ok, I had the G1 and tried it for 2 days and exchanged it for the Behold. After just a little bit on it, I totally missed the G1 and all it has to offer. The behold is very simple, nothing to the phone. The G1 has so much more to offer and is a mini laptop on the handheld. The apps I found out are free through January 09 so to download as much as possible now. This is what the tmobile mgr told me. I am going back tonight to switch back to the G1. I would rather have the jay leno chin than the plain jane behold. I am glad I tried them both out.

Oh and by the way…. there is absolutely no comparison between the two phones. I am lucky I was able to try them both during the 14 day period and get to go back to the G1!!!

- Here’s my new understanding of apps:
The iphone, G1, and Palm (and maybe Blackberry?) are phones made specifically to download apps through an app service they’ve partnered with (eg iphone/itunes, G1/android, etc), and only through that one service (iphone can’t get Android apps, Palm can’t get itunes apps, etc).
- The Behold is not set up to download apps such as found through itunes or android. The most you can do is utilize T-Mobile’s “tzones” which is your basic ringtone/wallpaper/simple stuff download service, which doesn’t compare to the iphone/G1 apps out there.
So there you go, you simply CAN’T compare the Behold to the G1 because it’s not capable of everything the G1 is. It’s a web-enabled camera phone (just like most mainstream phones have been for the past few years) with the tweak of having a touchscreen and higher megapixel camera. I’m not about to pay hundreds of $ for a phone that’s pretty much just like what I already have, simply so I can get a touchscreen. And for now, I’ll carry my REAL camera around if I want to take brilliant photos. So it’s looking like I’ll either go to the dark side and get the iphone, or else wait it out for a truly amazing phone.
