Little Big Planet Levels Deleted: Sony PS3 Gamers How do you feel?

We reported yesterday that there have been copyright infringements on LittleBigPLanet, when Sony PS3 users have been creating their own levels. Players had noticed that their custom levels were moderated, then deleted.
Player are now very angry and have been expressing their feelings on the official Little Big Planet forum. As yet there is no official word from Media Molecule, but it seems that it is the use of copyrighted materials is the cause of the levels being deleted.
What is making LittleBigPlanet players even angrier is the fact that Media Molecule’s system does not allow users to change the copyrighted material so that they can keep their level. How do you feel, that your levels are being deleted?

Do they delete the levels on your machine or can you still play them?
I’ve read that each time you create a level, before you publish it create a duplicate copy elsewhere on your moon.
You do have a copy of the level on your moon.
My levels have not been delete so I don’t know if this is true but may be possible for MM to delete that level too.
Hee hee hee I knew that this would be a ****** game! Rofl…….why do people always follow the crowd???…..Hmm beats me. Erm, anyways Resistance 2 will be coming out VERY VERY SOON GUYS!!!! Time to start saving money
F’ing lawyers!
I can see how people would use logos and what-not which is against copyright law.
But, why would a company want to remove what is, essentially, free publicity?
Am I surprised? No. Would I be mad if my level was deleted? Yes. Would I get over it (after boycotting the complaining company)? Yes.
My level was deleted - without warning - with no explanation - and all I had was a picture of a poiticians face that was public domain. I can not access my private copy, or the once published copy. In fact, the level was deleted AFTER I took it offline.
MM do not understand copyright laws. They are simply deleting levels where grief was reported, and there is ANY way that it doesn’t fit the EULA, whether in reality it does fit or not. A public domain image does not violate ANY EULA - and in fact there are MANY other levels with the same image out there that has not been deleted - which I am told by Sam from MM is because grief wasn’t reported.
So if you don’t like a level, or your friend, etc. just report it using Grief mechanism and watch the levels be deleted.
So much for their saying use your imagniation to create anything you want. Liars.
Come up with something original!
Be original and they’ll be no infringement.
Superdynamite,
You have no idea what you are talking about - levels, including mine, were deleted for much less than any possible copyright infringement or not being original. Someone simply didn’t like something about them and rather than taking a little time and notifying and working with the level creator who has spent many many hours designing and creating levels as was encouraged by MM, MM and Sony simply deletes your level without any recourse.
So don’t mislead people and tell them to be original and they will be ok - that is not what is happening here. Unless you had a level deleted, don’t comment on this, because your conjecture will be poor at best.
Michael,
I’m sorry your level was deleted, but there must have been something in your creation that was originated and registered by another party other than yourself. The law is very clear.
Sorry SD,
Again you have no idea about levels deletion - they are not in the right here, as much as you want to defend them. This has nothing to do with copyright - it has everything to do with them deleting levels that other users find somehow objectionable, without reason, without notice, without warning, without recourse.
There are many levels online now that have what you call copyrighted or unorginal work online - but haven’t been reported.
A person from MM told me in a private email they are only deleting levels that people have reported using the grief mechanism.
It is very similar to the political correctness they followed with the song that delayed LBP. One person complained, and they pulled every copy of the release delaying it a week or so.
Unless you work for MM/Sony or have had a level deleted - I am afraid you are not in a position to make a comment with a solid foundation. It is just poor conjecture on your part.
