2009 Volkswagen CC Passat Recall
By: Peter Chubb | November 11, 2008 | 1 CommentVolkswagen is to recall 130 of their 2009 Volkswagen CC Passat vehicles as well as their Passet Wagon, due to a steering fault. Volkswagen is working alongside The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, as there may be a fault with the vehicles electromechanical steering gear control unit, as a result of a damaged capacitor.
If the malfunction was to occur, drivers will notice that their steering input will not be processed properly by the system. This could be dangerous, as the vehicle will not respond how the driver intends.
This is not as bad as it sounds, according to the NHTSA the fault can only occur immediately after the vehicle starts-up, and when the steering wheel is moved when the vehicle is moved for the first time under 5MPH. But it is still a fault that needs fixing. More Information from the NHTSA
