YouTube and MGM Streaming Deal
By: Peter Chubb | November 10, 2008 | Leave a CommentMovie studios understand that they are having a hard time with ticket sales at the cinemas, as well as shifting DVD’s and Blu-rays. The problem is, people have embraced the digital age and wish to download movies instead. MGM know that digital movie downloads are the future, which is why they are now in a deal with YouTube, for them to start streaming their movies online.
MGM are allowing YouTube to offer up full movies and TV programs, MGM will be paid by the money earned from ads. This is great news for Google, who own YouTube, as they have been hassling Hollywood for some time now, to offer up such a deal.
Do not expect all the latest movies to be shown on YouTube, but MGM will allow the website to stream movies such as “Bulletproof Monk,” as well as “The Magnificent seven.” MGM have already been allowing YouTube to screen TV shows such as “Beverly Hills 90210,” and the original “Star Trek.” We just have to be patience, as better movies will be available in the future.
