When it comes to storage solutions, Sun Microsystems are not one of the big companies that spring to mind. The company knows this, so are coming up with ways on how to offer innovative products, like a range of appliances. Some of these include advanced management software, as well as SSD’s (Solid State Drives)
Thanks to the deals where Sun Microsystems was able to takeover companies such as StorageTek, they can now offer the Sun Storage 7000 line of three systems. These systems range from 2T bytes to 576T bytes, these storage solutions are for the business user.
The appliances that we spoke about will run Sun’s Open Solaris and ZFS, this will be on industry-standard x86 computing hardware, software developed by Sun’s FISH works will be for monitoring and management.
