RIM’s BlackBerry Storm: Verizon price higher than expected

For those of you who thought you had already known the rough price for the RIM’s BlackBerry Storm, we have some bad news. It seems that Verizon have given the Smartphone a higher price than expected.

The BlackBerry Storm by RIM via Verizon is reported to cost $549, once you take of the $50 gift certificate, you are left with a price of $499. This is just the price for the handset, to get further discounts; you will need to go on a two-year contact with Verizon Wireless.

Once all the other discounts have been taken off, you are looking at a final price of $299, which is $100 more than expected. There were initial rumors that the BlackBerry Storm would only cost $199 on a two-year contract.

Where are you getting this information…? just because Best Buy will be selling the storm at $549 has no bearing on the Verizon contract price.

    1. Verizon have not released any pricing.
    2. None of the reliable sites have anything on pricing (leaks or anything)
    3. Verizon is reported to be very “competitive” with the iPhone
    4. Vodaphone is giving the storm away with an 18mnts contract (we won’t get it free but I don’t see $299)

This story didn’t deserve this reply as I clearly put more thought into it than you did….

I’m sure that $299 will make Apple very happy!!

  4. So this is their answer to the iPhone? I’ve had the 8830 World edition almost from the day they premiered that phone. In the first month I had it exchanged 4, yes FOUR times. Seems the sales associates at Verizon weren’t paying attention in class on how to install a SIM card: you don’t try to slide it into the memory slot. 2 phones later, the manager of the store tries to install memory; I told him I could do it, but he insisted. Corrupted the phone.

The current phone freezes on a continuous basis, does not retain information and loses anything new that’s come in and has not been seen or saved. Once that little bowtie/timer avatar starts it’s twirl, you know you’ve lost anything that’s come in.

Question is: Will Verizon or Blackberry be fair to the customers who bought the 8830 World Edition at the VERY inflated price do anything to right a wrong? Documented hours over and over and over on tech support for this phone. That extra $50 a month for their “internet” service which was supposedly capable of showing animated sites, and sites with video that DOES NOT WORK.

Verizon, there are many of us out there. We are waiting. Almost two years of a phone that failed to live up to even the most minute promise.
