Gran Turismo 5 was due for release before the holiday season, but the developers said that the sheer scale of the game made that release date impossible. Now we have heard a rumor that GT5 will have a spring 2009 launch on the PS3.
The reports come from a UK car magazine; there was an article on a Citroen GT concept car. The article stated that this car will be seen on Gran Turismo 5 this coming spring. We can’t be certain that the article was accurate, but it is still a hope.
There maybe a little truth to the article though, as GT’s creator, Kazunori Yamauci said in a recent interview that Gran Turismo 5 will be out earlier than expected. Do you think that there is any truth to the rumor?

lets hope so. GT5 can’t come soon enough. there is such little attractiveness in the gaming of the console that since i bought it new when it came out i’ve owned about 10 games and resold all of them but 2.
of all of them many were way too short (stranglehold, force unleashed, gt5 prologue, assassin’s creed…) so to have something like GT5 come around and show us that you CAN put 60gb of data on a blu-ray disc for a game will be a welcome sight. unlike GTAIV which came on both Xbox and PS3 at the same time, yet Xbox only holds 4gb DVD discs (somehow can do 1080p????) but the PS3 was obv. a blu-ray so if the same game fits on an obsolete Xbox 4gb DVD disc, what did they do with the other 50+GB of blu-ray room on the PS3 disc??? makes no sense to me at all.
Firstly the xbox holds about 9gb’s on a disc, and blu ray holds 50 gb’s. Secondly the xbox upscales to 1080p, infact quite alot of the games run at slighlty under 720p.
I hope when GT5 comes out they actually have Damage integrated into the game like they never have before.. a racing game isnt a racing game to me if you can bank a turn at 120+ mph and just bounce off. I mean with all the detailed graphics that the GT series has offered i think its time to start damage or else i think its going to start losing its popularity [which i think is already happening after GT4 came out]
how does an xbox disc hold 9gb of data? Dual Layer DVD’s are only 8.2 GB. I have to see this. So it upscales to 1080p and most games run at slightly under 720p? how do you know this? if it upscales to 1080p, then it’s not true HD. my ps3 upscales all my ps2 game too. anyways, still puzzled how the same game can come out on 2 consoles and have that much wasted space on a blu-ray for one console and use as much as possible? on an obsolete Xbox360 disc. again, i hope GT5 actually uses most of a blu-ray disc so it comes out exclusively on PS3 to show it’s true power over an obsolete Xbox 360.
Slerby………..you do realize Sony owns Polyphony who make the GT series. Regardless of the disc size, it will always be a PS3 exclusive.
yes i do. the point was moreso that OTHER games get wasted having to downsize their potential to get to Xbox’s inferior disc data capability. personally i thought there was more game/data on GTA San Andreas than in GTA IV. the differnece in data size was essentially the fact it was in HD. (which then doesn’t bode well for the Xbox one either since the PS3 one was in TRUE 1080p, and the Xbox one wasn’t. how does that work?)
the wait for gt5 will be worth it. personally i prefer dev ’s to take the time on producing a stella title but my craving is starting to get the better of me. i am sure to lose many hours downshifting through its cogs in 2009.
they always take their time with the Gran Tursimo Series. I still have yet to finish 4, but i will; i have the F1 series to get through and some 24 hrs - but it’s so time consuming…
i actually bought a 2005 Subaru WRX becuase of the way it drove in that game.
