The HP Compaq CQ-50 139WM has been advertised on Walmart for a few days now, and the store will be selling this laptop today, Saturday, November 08, 2008. The laptop is being offered at an amazing deal, just $298 which Walmart call a loss leader.
Did you manage to find one of these Compaq CQ50 139WM at your local store, as each Wal-Mart was only stocking 10 of these. You do have to worry that this sort of thing could set of frenzy at the store.
A number of people decided to take a trip to their local Wal-Mart store before the offer, one store said that they did not know anything about the offer. Walmart are clever, they know that most people will not be able to get their hands on one of these Compaq CQ-50 139WM laptops, so you will purchase something else instead.

Found one in Wilkesboro, NC @ 9AM, which happened to be the last one. Seems OK for a laptop, with a 2ghz single-core processor and 2GB RAM. Integrated graphics chip made me want to look elsewhere, but the price is worth it.
Only a 15-day return policy, which means I’ll be checking blackfriday.info prior to 15 days to see if there are better deals on Black Friday, and if I should return it.
Got one today and have been messing with it all morning. Gereat buy! Works well. Need to get used to Visa. Prefer Xp but this rocks. Love the wireless internet. Gift for grandama! Hope she enjoys it! So far so good.
I got one today but haven’t opened it. There are a MINIMUM of 10 at a store. Two stores are located nearby. One had 50, another 60. I’m not an expert in computers, but the Celeron processor made me stop a little, as did the graphics ship.
Yup, standing in Electronics observing the line, a store employee said
“9 left”—as she held up a hand “You” meaning me the good looking guy in the back of the line “are number 9 and that is it”
327 bucks with tax to Taxifornia
Now…someone say VISTA Operating System? Uck
I bought one of these laptops at my local Walmart. I live in Oklahoma and was told that the store could not sell the laptop for $298.oo because the law in Oklahoma was that the store could not sell this item for under cost. I could buy one in Kansas for $298.oo. I live about 1 hour away from Kansas so I bought one for 428.oo. That was the lowest price I could get one. I am having thoughts of taking this back and looking around for something as good for the price. Any ideas out there on what is comparable to this computer? I feel like they should have had a disclosure on this ad that said otherwise about the $298.00 deal

Walmart was carrying a minimum quanity of ten….some stores had more. The store I went to this AM had about fifteen. I waited, first in line for fourty five minutes. By eight thirty the were gone. But they had at least ten…not ONLY ten.
I purchased 2 this morning at our local Walmart - arrived at 6:50 a.m. and was out of there by 8:15 a.m. - they had so many they were letting everyone purchase 2 if they wanted to. If you wanted more than 2 you had to get back in line.
We sold one laptop at 8am,second and third by 3pm. I left
at 5pm, had 7 left. For a Saturday the store was empty
of customers.Must be the economy.
