No Google Android for AT&T Yet

The Web 2.0 Summit took place on Thursday, and CEO of AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, Ralph de La Vega was on hand to explain a few things. He spoke about a number of topics, which included broadband limits, the Apple iPhone and how the current economy struggles are having an effect on AT&T’s business. He also hinted that AT&T is not ready to make a Google Android just yet.
De la Vega said that AT&T are still looking at the Google Android OS, but we are not thinking about a move to have any Android phones just yet. De la Vega also added that the platform is new and still evolving, and needs to open up more as well as offer a larger range of non-Google applications.
He also added that the Apple iPhone has been one of the biggest turning points for AT&T. The company came under a lot of pressure for the $900 million in iPhone related costs in the last quarter, some of these costs included subsidy payments to Apple, network upgrades, as well as marketing and customer acquisition costs.
