Google Android RC30 Update: Fixes G1 phone jailbreak

We have been impressed with the way Google has handled Android updates for the HTC G1 phone and its Open Source OS, and now we see a Google Android RC30 update.

This update fixes the jailbreak and comes just days after people figured out what the RC29 update did; was it mysterious to you? Well RC30 is more clean-cut.

They are updating the open source code base to reflect the latest changes in a very short time after being been notified of the Android jailbreaking issue. This update should be in everyone’s hands within three days and we do not know of any other changes within the RC30 update. Hit the read link for more information.

  1. Does this update block out tethering as well - curious if T-Mobile is killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

I won’t get the update until they fix the problem with applications storing to the phone only. With jailbreak, I can backup my whole phone and change where appications are stored.

I have G1 with no data plan. It worked fine and I had access to email and internet via Wi-Fi until the update message on November 7th.
Now when I try to get into my gmail, it tells me I have connection error.( Wi-Fi signal is stong but it still not able to get my mail received after Nov 7th.
    I have RC-29.
Is there a way to get me back on internet/email via Wi-Fi? Not ready for data plan until late Spring.
