It has now been two days since Google pulled out of the advertising deal with Yahoo, now Google chief executive, Eric E. Schmidt has been talking about the failed partnership. Schmidt believes that the deal would have been a successful one if they decided to defend the deal in court.
It was Google who decided to walk away from the deal, as the two search engine giants were notified by the Justice Department, saying that they would block the deal by filing an antitrust suit. Yahoo was prepared to go to court and defend the deal.
A Yahoo spokeswoman said “Yahoo strongly believes we would have prevailed in court if the Department of Justice had filed a lawsuit, but unlike Google, we were prepared to defend our agreement.” Both Yahoo and Google executives said that those who had opposed the deal, failed to understand the benefits that the advertising partnership had.
