PlayStation 3 Home Open Beta: Are you ready?

There is no getting away from the fact that the hottest thing to come from the PlayStation 3, has to be the Home Open Beta. The service has not yet been launched worldwide, but a number of people have been lucky enough to try out a closed beta version. Now that the launch date is getting closer, I have to ask, are you ready for the Sony PlayStation 3 Home Open Beta?
There are those out there who think that Sony is making a big deal out of this, but it is going to be huge, and will move the PS3 to the next level. There is no denying how much media attention Home has received, and that is evident by how many companies are queuing up at Sony’s door to become involved with Home.
So what is so great about PlayStation 3 Home, well the game lounges for one, along with special items that can be obtained in Home Rewards. But it is the sheer scale of what is to come from Home that has most PS3 owners most exited, and the fact that the possibilities are endless.

“There is no getting away from the fact that the hottest thing to come from the PlayStation 3, has to be the Home Open Beta” - I am getting away from it, I am running.
“I have to ask, are you ready for the Sony PlayStation 3 Home Open Beta?” You may have to ask, but do I have to answer?
“There are those out there who think that Sony is making a big deal out of this”…yup…”but it is going to be huge” - is it? Says who? I think it looks rather small and cramped. And unexciting. And overhyped. But that’s just me.
“There is no denying how much media attention Home has received” - purely out of contrariness, I deny it. Thus I refute your arguments, Sophocles. Pointless and shallow, I know, but that seems to be the tone round here.
“that is evident by how many companies are queuing up at Sony’s door to become involved with Home” - name three. Actually I have no idea of this, having skillfully avoided this apparent media storm, so who knows, maybe they are. But I’d like a little bit more evidence, and a little less groundless assertion. Here’s a novel idea: try and persuade me. (clue: persuasion requires more than a long string of non-sequitur assertions).
And as for the possibilities being endless… well, if they are, I have some requests… I’d like to manifest as a gold-lame-wearing smear of intelligent snot, with the ability to turn walls groovy, and alter people’s moods to paisley. More importantly - in fact, fundamentally - I’d also like Home to automatically blank anyone who can’t punctuate. I’ve found that’s a pretty good indicator of irritating fanboyness. Until Home does that, it’s highly unlikely I’ll ever go there.
You are right about one thing. As a PlayStation owner, I have thoroughly exited.
@moom: Whatever you’re smoking…. I’ll have some.
I haven’t been one of the privileged to have been in the beta so far, but from what I have been gathering it sounds like Home is still lacking content. I feel that Home will have to probably grow and mature into its full state. Once it does though, I think it will be a worth while experience.
Sony has described online events. Take the Tokyo game show for instance. Imagine virtually walking through the Playstation section and stopping by the booths to play demos, watch interviews, and socialize. The program has immense potential. I really think that meeting in a virtual lobby before an online game, will add a whole other level of depth to the social experience.
Now If I could find a way to get remove that unsightly dust off of my playstation’s shiny black case.
Maybe the leaf blower will work.
Dude is seriously dreamin’ if he thinks HOME or anything else will save PS3.
To the author,
I understand you work for Sony and you desperately needed a headline for then just from your first paragraph but as I kept on reading a figure you really had nothing to do or in mind when you sat down for 1.43 seconds to write this non-sence. your headline had nothing to do with what you said, is ridiculous. Anyways home has potential but let’s see what Sony does with it.
I have a ps3 and I would really want this to make m actually play it
I honestly don’t understand why people have to moan on and on about a product that is entirely FREE. If you don’t like it then don’t bother with it, as I am sick of hearing peoples complaints before release. I am a proud PS3 owner and have been enjoying many a good game over the past few months, the PS3 is leading the way in terms of originality and creativity, and I for one, am all for that. I’ll leave my judgement of Home until it’s released. I hope others will follow suit and keep the downbeat comments to themselves!!
I am also excited for Home! People can make what they want of it! I also believe it has the potential to take multiplayer gaming to the next level. I hope one day I get a beta invite. Imagine rather than sitting in a game menu while watching the clock tick down waiting for the next multiplayer game to start, you were able to walk around and speak to the other people about to start that same game, some of whom could be on your team, and if the scores from the last level were displayed for all to see, but with more of a virtual feel. This would clearly be a task for developers, but it would definitely take online multiplayer gaming to a new level, especially socially and in my opinion would really make team work, and strategy interesting, from sports games to games like call of duty or warhawk, I think this home has some excited potential. It won’t be there initially, but I think the idea of walking around a virtual tokyo game show would be simply awesome!
Ok, a few points, since I don’t feel like crafting transition sentences tonight. Too much turkey, sorry.
1. At it’s basic, gaming level, this service will provide a way to create parties and join games with that party. ANYONE who thinks this alone won’t revolutionize how MP works on the PS3 is kidding themselves and anyone they talk to.
2. Given a 3D, user populated framework to craft an experience around from a company like Sony, companies WILL be able to do pretty much anything they want.
3. This will not change the look of a game once IN a MP setup. Sorry, but no virtual rooms between matches. Home provides areas to form parties, not to check out people’s avatars in between games.
4. Content is of no concern to me, and it shouldn’t be a concern to anyone else either. Content is developed over a framework, and Home *is* that framwork. Content can be added in any amount necessary, and at any time, and therefore isn’t a big deal. As long as the underlying framework is well coded and runs well once implimented, there’s no reason to get upset at a lack of content…
alright well i played it the first little bit was fun but it gets old real fast. most of the things they showed arent even there and theres not much to do unless you want to start paying for things. i know they want to make money but damn cut a little more slack to the user we paid all that money for the system give us a break.
i dont know how to get on home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! will some one tell me?
